John Campea of The Movie Blog said it all; I don't know what else I could possibly add. 9.8 out of 10 my thumbs up to this movie. 12 year-old girl Ivana Baquero who played Ofelia in Pan's Labyrinth is extremely convincing and believable, which deeply drawn me into Ofelia's wonderland and suffers in her real life. Oh, there is a very interesting part I found on YouTube; the faun and pale man in the movie was actually played by the same guy Doug Jones. On the contrary of Ivana Baquero's role, Captain Vidal played by Sergi López weighted heavily to balance the tone of Pan's Labyrinth; his fantastic acting as a cruel, violent and heartless Pro-Frasco military leader chilled me into my marrow. I had to cover my eyes whenever Captain Vidal killed. It is really hard for me to believe Sergi López is a comedian. Good god. I have never seen his comedies.


Are Ofelia's maze and fairies real? I had better leave that part for you to find out. All I can say is all adults in this movie didn't seem to see what Ofelia saw. After all, it is not important if a child's fairy tale is true or not; what matters is those imaginations help a child to go on his/her life.
