A Country Bumpkin Offering Sunshine

Yep! This is Our Country- Pretty Confusing

I don't know. Man. I was not very comfortable when the first time I saw the entire 60-second-long ad during Sunday Football commercial time. What does this new ad campaign for the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado try to say? I cannot figure out if this giant corporation is selling trucks or the country or John Mellencamp’s new song “Our Country”. There has been a lot of criticism after it was on-air. I am confused by all of them.

If you were anti-war, you would feel that you might not want to have anything to do with big trucks, which consume more gas; if you were pro-war, it could be painful to watch historical minority leaders, 911, Hurricane Katrina…all blended together. People wondered who could be the target customers. Left? Not likely. Right?! Not red-neck enough. Isn’t it a little too heavy to sell trucks with political idealism? It seems to touch everyone' sensitive spots in good and bad ways.

“Our Country” is really not my type of songs. I was not familiar with John Mellencamp at all. After Googling for him, I found out that he is not as bad as the music genre sounds like. He wrote a letter called “An Open Letter to America: It's Time to Take Back Our Country” that indicated he was more anti-war than pro-war. “Our Country” is having good intention to bring the real American spirit (hopefully, not including the role of playing an international judge) back. At least, it is not anti-immigration. Good to know. Am I supposed to like this song now?

What a shame?! This TV ad is much shorter now. No one feels comfortable with it, I guess. Let’s review it one more time.

THIS IS OUR COUNTRY

Oh, this guy is brilliant. I truly like his version of "This is Our Country" without Chevy's trucks. I love his first sentence:
Not everyone is a Chevy pickup driving white dude.

Note:
I have struggled to embed an YouTube Flash video directly on this post for two days. Below script/code doesn't seem to work. Some studying work for CSS and Flash video making needs to be done. Oh, dear...

Thank you for asking. I learned this part of coding from a forum which I threw a question and a nice person answered. I copied and changed the URL link to be the one I wanted to post. It doesn't show anything but a huge blank when I browsed for it. Is the code more like HTML instead of CSS? Is Opera using CSS?
