India! Country of "Unity in Diversity"

Comments

monica 13. July 2007, 08:34

hi:smile: This blog is a great idea  ... there are many things to tell about a country so this blog will have big comments ... It feels like I'm making a composition at school  "My beautiful country Romania"
Romania is a rich country in its diversity thanks to the specificity of its areas, of which each one carries a unique image: Bucovine, Transylvania, Maramures, the Carpathians, the Danube Delta, ...
I'll start with The DANUBE DELTA - which I like most
Land of water and people, unique in Europe, the Danube Delta is the tourists' paradise, but also of the ornithologists and the fishermen. It is in the Delta that the large river which crosses seven European capitals has created an ecosystem which is unique in Europe. To trully discover the Danube Delta you should do it in a traditional boat, with an old lipovenian fisherman, who is the best expert in this land. The Danube Delta is one of the few places that meet the requirements of these travellers who want to profit of moments of peace and quiet during their vacation. Unique landscape can be admired: long picturesque stretches shaded by luxuriant plants, water lilies and endless areas of reed; willow, poplar and alder groves; flocks of swans, pelicans and wild ducks and geese, creepers and venerable oaks that make these places look like a real jungle. In this world where water is almost the sole ruler, the only means of transportation is by boat and the main occupation is of course fishing.
If you haven't decided yet what to do during your holidays, stop there for a moment and marvel that fascinating universe. bye

Its still got alot issues that needs sorting out, but everthing is taken with a pinch of salt.
We have a wonderful country, awesome weather and lovely people.

Your topic is very interesting, and a great conversation builder. Thanks for inviting me.
Hope to hear more from you.

Thanks to all of you!

Alldonna 26. July 2007, 16:59

Hi I'm alldonna from Poland. I was thinking about your subject (if there is something unusuall in Poland?). I've never been in India, but I think that we don't have nothing special. Against Europe we have a lot of things that we can be proud. Like in Cheq Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romunia we have the bigest areas of wild nature in Europe!
The weather is not special. When you are not polish people are nice, friendly and guest.
But people dont like Poland because we have social problems. Small salarys (even when you finished university) it's hard to live (not saying about buying your own flat).
So we finish Universitys and going to England, Irland or Scotland.
Kisses

EL REY 27. July 2007, 04:54

Thanks Alldona! for your nice and unbiased comment.. These short of problems are even here also.. Therefore, many merits migrate to other countries from here.. which is known as 'brain drain'

My beat regards:)

dragonM 27. July 2007, 12:54

Hello from Bulgaria
It is the south neighbour of Romania. On the other site of Danube
Alldona has a lot - the nature in these countries is great and not "artificial" as in some north-west countries ....at least I have this feeling because of the wether perhaps - always rainy, no sun at all ...
For the social problems - I see they are similar to these in Poland and perhaps India .. I don't know I've never been in India (you have very beutifull photos of India in your album -congratulations) ....but as I see the "brain drain" is in most of the countries.
Best Regards!

Hello from the United States
I live close to Annapolis and the D.C. area. Both are beautiful areas to live near. Annapolis is where the Naval Academy trains and you see lots of boats coming and going daily. The water is beautiful and D.C. of course is where our President lives and is always bustling with activity. This area is beautiful because we can either go to the mountains or to the ocean, whichever we want. This is the perfect place to live because the flowers bloom brightly in the Spring and Summer and the snow comes during the Winter for all of us to play in. Not too cold, though. There are many festivals held all over during the year. You never know when you might pass by a street festival. Merchants are everywhere. I just bought something today from a street festival from someone who was selling something from India. What I enjoy the most about my area is all the beautiful scenery, the duck and birds that enjoy the backyards and water all around and the dogs that roam free to play with each other. People are friendly and willing to help each other or a new tourist that might come our way. America is the land of the home and free. My beautiful country.

Hey Kachha,

I'm a dual citizen of both the USA and Iran, but since the former has been accounted for, allow me to share a few words about my motherland, Iran.

Iran has a long and rich history that is often overlooked in the western world. It was an advanced empire long ago, and it is believed that anchient Persia was the birthplace of important studies such as Chemistry and War Ethics.

The Persians freed the Hebrew slaves from Babylon, and under certain rulers, where the only anchient empire to ban slavery.

Most Persian paintings depict scenes of wine and music; two of my favorite things, so naturally I'm proud to be a man of such heritage.

I believe that Iran has become much less prosperous since anchient times. This is due to greedy Shah's and facist theocrats (personal opinion).

HANNA 19. August 2007, 13:03

Hi form Warsaw/Poland!
On contrary to Alldona I know that Poland is really great (I'm speaking not only for me but for my friends from different parts of Europe and world). I know Poland quite well (traveled a lot) and I had a opportunity to travel to some countries (almost all in west Europe plus east Europe like Russia, Belarusia, Lituania, Latvia, Ukraine, Estonia and some countries in Asia and South America) so I can compare. I felt great everywhere and I love to travel but I feel perfectly satysfied to come back to my country. What is special about Poland with no doubts: people (opened, friendly but... sometimes too critical and unhappy with no reason), weather (yes - because we have 4 seasons and opportunity to enjoy them and to try almost every summer and winter sports), the best sunsets and sunrises in the world (you'll never see anywhere such a colours of the sky and sea) plus the greatest, the softest sand on the beach, great old&new culture, lakes, rivers, mountains, caves ect. It's just a beggining...
Yes we do have some problems - but it's like anywhere else. So I don't see a reason to fuss about it.
Just come and see!
Have a great time wherever you are and don't forget - every place is unique and enjoyable!
Hanna

Hello, greetings from Ecuador, in Latinoamérica!

loboderusia 22. September 2007, 16:12

Good Idea!

Veronica Gisel 17. October 2007, 23:42

Hi! I´m Veronica. I´m from Argentina. My country is in South America, it´s really big and it has a lot of beautiful places... We have different kinds of ecosystems depending on the area. The north west is covered by jungle; in the centre (where I live) we have flatness, great for agriculture and production of cow´s meet
The south is quite dry, really cold and windy. There are a lot of industries working with petrol there, but most of them are owned by the USA or other developed countries.
I really love my country cause it´s the place where i was born... but i must admit that it has a lot of problems. Most of politicians are extremely corrupt, specially the president and there is insecurity and injustice.
But i still have some hope... my country will recover from all this someday
Anyway, i think this is a great idea... i´ve learnt a lot about other countries with this blog

EL REY 18. October 2007, 03:55

Sorry for my late comment:( It is very nice to see that so many of you have contributed in this page:) Thanks to all of you for the comments and making my page well documented.

Veronica, your country also has a very famous football (soccer)team, which you have not mentioned! My one of the favorites football team is Argentina. I am a great fan of Maradona! Thanks to you for putting your own words hare about your great country ...

From the comments in this page I can understand that in the developing countries there are some common problems related to administrations.. All these countries including my country have very good economic potential and opportunities but unfortunately not in the right track to achieve the best outcome:(

Another thing is also very common, which is also very nice to see that
:smile:WE ALL LOVE OUR COUNTRIES VERY MUCH!

Gabe 22. October 2007, 11:49

Hell, I'm Gabe from Belgium.
Belgium is where I was born and bread, but my Mom is from Lebanon (like Slayman Souliman in a previous comment).

About Lebanon, I'd like to give you also my opinion.
Lebanon is still a very beautiful country. Not only the antique sites or the gorgeous mountains. The People also.
Lebanon and the Lebanese have a sense of life that's very special.

There are several religions over there but when you're in the mountains, in a christian village in the beautiful, green north of the country, and you hear the bells from the church and, from the next mountain, in a muslim village, the muezzin call for prayer, then you do realise the universality of it, because both villages are under the same splendid sky.
A lebanese song says "Nahna wa l amar jirane" (we and the moon are neighbours).
That song sounds like what one feels in the mountains in Lebanon. We are all on the same planet, attached to our villages, under the same sky wuth the same hope for good things to spring for everyone.
aren't we?

About Belgium now.
Belgium is a small country with its own variety of people and landscapes.
The north is flat and beautiful. the sky is often shades of light grey, and close to the ground.
Hence the Belgian often like small things and have a humble mind. And a sense of self-derision, self-humour that may look odd for foreigners but that is actually a great quality, in my opinion.

The south has more valleys and forests, and is kind of peaceful.

Between those areas stands Brussels, a very strange city. Not so big, it's made of areas that can be lived in like villages, and the center of Brussels isn't so wide either. Nevertheless it offers all the advantages of big cities.
Brussels has a mix of modern and ancient building (neo classical, art nouveau) in an seemingly disorganised order. That aspect shows how the people can be torn between what's old and what's new, between south and north. Nevertheless, the city is alive and life can be beautiful there, so maybe having different sides in one's life is just normal, and not a problem, really.

all readers, take care

Gabe

Agnieszka 6. November 2007, 09:48

hi
first - sorry for my english; it's not good, but I wanna tell you something about my country - about Poland
I know that many people think, that we have communism, that we don't know what is DVD and who was Elvis Presley
but also many people don't know where exactly is Poland - somewhere in Russia?.. do they have cars in this country? maybe Poland is the name of some animal?
ok, I'm joking.
(but just a little.. :>)

in Poland people are beauty and proud. they're hospitable, have pretty gardens and geranium at the windows. we have dogs, cats, white mouses. chickens, cows, sheeps and rabbits too, ofcourse
we like music, poetry, theatre.. and cabaret
from Poland was John Paul II, Lech Wałęsa, Fryderyk Chopin; now from Poland is for example Jan A.P. Kaczmarek and Andrzej Wajda
we were crying when pope dead, we are crying when people dying on Near East...

we are not perfect, but I think we're trying

and what I love most in my country is all Poland's beauty: dark forrests, deep rivers, great lakes, warm sea.. and the greatest thing for me - our mountains. not very high, but really beautiful

come to Poland and see how it is.
love,
Aga

Christy 6. November 2007, 13:36

Sounds beautiful. I will add Poland to my list. Just like some of these other countries. They sound so beautiful to visit.

India is the root of many religions in the world. And now they are famous with Outsourcing. I like it.
When someone talk about Vietnam, they often think about the Vietnam War. Otherwise, we're expressing out power by the growing of economic and IT.
I want to share many pictures from my beautiful country here. What a pity.

Hi! I'm Valerie from Odessa, Ukraine.

Hi,
My name is Erwin. I live in the United States of America, in the state of Maryland. My father worked for Pan American Airlines, when I was a kid, and gave me the chance to visit over 40 countries. I have been to the taj mahal. Impressive! You just have to be there to appreciate it. India is an amazing country! I am a music producer, with my son Daniel, and we produced an album which is on the web, called Return to Kali, by Soulbox - it is exotic chill-out music (not really a hindu album - instrumental). Do a search for Return to Kali by Soulbox. Enjoy. Back to India. I was only 12 when I went, but the images are still in my mind. The music speaks volumes to me.

Well, time to go to bed, it is 3am.

Peace
