"Parliament of Dreams" (season 1, ep. 5)

(Skipped episode: "Infection". No great loss, but it means we still haven't seen Franklin. He's not in this one either. Poor guy ends up in all the worst episodes!)
While not essential to the long-term plot, this is an enjoyable episode in its own right. And of course it's nice to have Catherine properly introduced, since we last saw Sinclair with Carolyn. What is his deal with dating businesswomen, anyway?
Comment-worthy moments:
• What does “flunk out” even mean? I must be too young to know what that means.
• Knowing G’Kar’s song was made up on the spot only makes it better. ^^
• Narn Cooking: What is G’Kar eating? It looks like the middle part of a horse, extra crispy.
• “Already my agent is close to you.” You got that right. Of course Na’Toth arrives just afterwards to spoil the hint, but still.
• Ivanova sure is having a good time at the Centauri banquet. Perhaps it’s a Russian thing.
• “VAL-TOOO!” Totally gotta try this one at parties.
• Finally, by the way, an episode in which G’Kar doesn’t draw the shortest straw. He was in danger of appearing incompetent for a while, there.
• You just know Lennier’s thoughts as he looks up have to be “Wow, she’s kind of hot…”. No wonder it was forbidden. Also: He looks so lost and touristy! Shame his innocence didn’t last, in a way. I definitely prefer this one to Brooding Lennier in season 5. Vir handled growing up so much better. Of course, if Vir had a crush on Londo, things might have turned out similarly.
• I wonder what actually made Sinclair + Catherine work this time around. As far as I know, it’s never explained.
• Sinclair should have taken notes at the Minbari ceremony… given that he’s going to deliver that exact same speech at some point later. That is, earlier. Tee hee.
• How did Tu’Pari manage to kill the bodyguard right under Na’Toth’s nose?
• Was there a real backup? (2 minutes later…) Ah, no, they actually thought of that? Awesome.
• How did they get all those tribal people up there? I guess they must have been residents of B5, given how little time Sinclair had to arrange it.
While not strictly canon, there was a story (novel or graphic novel, I forget) that suggested Sinclair was reunited with Catherine in the distant past. While good for them, I wonder whether she also underwent the Triluminary Transformation. Otherwise, Valen's new girlfriend would probably seem strange to the other Minbari. Besides, Valen had children as well, so was Catherine their mother? If so, small wonder Minbari society is starting to notice the effects.
