Chapter 32 and an Apple

, ,

Chapter 32 is in the bag.

This one was a relatively short chapter, but they all don't have to be 3500 words or more, do they? Chapter 32 is only about 2300 words.

Writing this one seemed particularly difficult and I am not sure why. Is it because I am wrapping up the story and will soon leave off creating the characters? I am always a little reluctant to finish a story because it is similar to coming home after a wonderful vacation. You are glad to be back home, but you are very sorry to leave the fun behind. Also, I have written this story in record time... a little less than three months since I started it. Whew! Who knew a novel could be creatred that quickly?

There are already some changes that have to be made, but that will wait until I start editing. I have to resist the temptation to just plunge in and start with the editing process before the story is done. When I do that, I never get around to finishing the story. So, I forge ahead, writing and creating.

Creation is what this story is. Creating something from nothing, as if I were a sculpture who forms a beautiful piece of art out of a single chunk of rock. In this case, my imagination is the rock and the story is the final product. Editing is the process of polishing the stone after it has taken on its final form.

In other news:

I visited the Divine Miss M and her Baby Brother last evening. Miss M's Mom, The One and Only Four Leaf Clover called their cat an "A-hole" because of something typically cat-like Kyta did.

Clover: KYTA! YOU ARE AN A-HOLE!
Miss M: Mommy, did you call Kyta an APPLE?
Clover: Um, yes, I did.

Saved! Everyone knows you don't use bad language around the kids because they pick that up, instantly. Even though A-Hole is a very watered down expletive, the adults in the group have decided that calling someone an apple is far superior to other words that could be used.

Imagine:

"You are such an APPLE."
"Don't act like an APPLE"
When shouting at someone who cuts you off in traffic: "APPLE!"

Yes, I can see the merits of this.

Elly, Or maybe a pumpkin-head... not to be confused with the spooky movie from a few years ago.
