Chappter 33 and Trust

Chapter 33 is underway. Only 1700 words written this morning before breakfast. I supposed that is a pretty good accomplishment. I could actually end the story right here... plenty of cliff hangers. Or maybe too many cliff hangers. Like the season ender of Lost.

At work yesterday, a student came in to do her paperwork to get her financial aid. We required some information from her husband, who had not come with her. She called him and he refused to give her his password. He said he didn't trust her not to screw him over. Well, they got into a yelling match and after referring to him by a number of unkind names, she hung up the phone. She was crying when she came back to my office (teeny cubicle).

Me: Are you all right?
Her: No. I just found out my husband doesn't trust me.
Me: Have you ever given him a reason to not trust you?
Her: No. Never! Except that time I cheated on him, but it was only once.
Me: And you are surprised that he doesn't trust you now?
Her: But that was months ago! I said I was sorry.
Me: And he still doesn't trust you? (I said sarcastically, but she missed it)
Her: I know, right? I can't believe it, either.

It totally hurts when reality slaps you right in the face. She left the office, still crying because her husband didn't trust her. And she didn't learn a thing from the experience. I hopes she does better in college.

No. I am too busy at work to write while there. I write at home. I get up really early and go to it.
