On Many Subjects

Somehow I understand that feeling every time I get up.

Hmm. I was going to laugh, Ms Four, but then I suddenly remembered that I'd heard my own knees creak not so very long ago as I wheezed my way up some stairs. It sort of feels less funny now, more personal. I creak! Good grief. I'm only twenty-one, for pity's sake - if you discount the last twenty years. So in theory, then, I'm still twenty-one, okay, and this feels like too young an age to be creaking.

I creak
You creak
He, she, It creaks
We all creak together.

It's an interesting kind of verb, for sure, although I'm not yet quite ready to succumb to its vexing charms.
