Fuel Crisis

What should be done-" An independant Look over our gas problem"

We have to do something, and very soon. With the price per gallon racing up like it is, soon driving will become "an ignorant act" in getting from point a to point b.

We the United States have so much invested in our use of oil. "Why not cut back our use." I mean it isn't easy but sometimes the practical thing for an individual house hold to do in order to control the cost of living in that house hold. What if we practiced this on a national scale? For instance, I hear of millionaire billionaire etc. individuals
making donations to many things each year in order to balance their books in the end of a tax year. Imagine if every multi-millionaire donated to a say "Economic Relief" Fund which proposed to put an electric car in every garage in america. A new economy size electric car for each house hold. Imagine that the car used only electric and no gas...by generating more electric which was stored in a secondary battery in the engine, thus resulting in never needing a recharge. Imagine that the minor set back to this car in every house hold, was that the top speed of one of these babies was 40 mph. And then chance to imagine that the top speed would contribute to less fatalities in car accidents in America.
Indeed, if we took some of the investment now from oil, and investedd more in the ecological status of even the entire world, my question is "Would that turn out to be the worst investment that a millionaire or even billionaire could consider?"
Keep in mind, we live in a country where there's a color TV in every home. That use to not be the case. Most adults carry a phone on them nowadays. That use to not be the case. Indeed a little relief by sending us a tax break in the mail feels good. But hardly anyone brought a hybrid with the change. Most of us paid up some of the bills which suffered during the increased cost of travel, so it was bye bye as soon as we got the check. THE SUPER RICH CAN FIX THIS. WHY DON'T THEY?

Ohmarow Conco Tanoychie darkHeartLord Saturday, July 5, 2008 9:16:50 PM

dude ur cant sdee the big pic here can u MONEY
yeah its a great idea but theres not mpney in it so the bigf wigs wont do it
and has far as the super rich goes they only look out 4 there own best intrest so its useless to even try to get them to help
yeah some r nice and giveing but 4 the most part they all as holes money makes people greedy and they end up wanting more y do u thing they only give just enough to as u said " balance their books "
they dont want to give more then they need to

thats y were still drive'ing gass driven cars
if not 4 the lack od money wed all be driving soler or water drvien cars bye now
u8 know there is a thing u can get *witch is ilegul now* that can make your car get 40 mils to the gallon *hummmm i wonder y its ilegul oh wait i know no money* and the big wigs dont like the fact it can be done so they worket to make it ilagul *ok so its only ilagul in some stats but still*

we have the power but we dont have the MONEY to found it
and becuzz the big wigs will never work to do some thing that wont make them monay or work for them they wont do it
*sigh* in about 25 years we wont have any gas or coal tous then the big wigs will be fucket lol
and when that days comes ill be there to laugh in there dum faces

people of power work to keep that power little do they know if they were to work to make the little man happyer theyed stay in power much longer *sigh* power curups the mind of all men

True. "And that money power which spawns coruption of entities of the upper class ... will be the down fall of us all."

The last new report I saw said that 65,000 more people have been laid off, and more are coming. Even Wal-Mart is restructuring their employee base - and for a billion dollar company to cut corners and have off employees to save a little money, darkHeart hit the nail on the head - corporate greed.

@darkHeart - what's the "secret" stuff that'll get you 40mpg, and does it work with gasoline or diesel? Personally, I'm considering switching to horse & buggy - got the grass, got the hay - and 200 acres of farmland around me. That'll be something different - I wonder how soon it will be before Wal-Mart starts selling hitcing posts? lol

DeniseDBabbit Tuesday, July 8, 2008 8:48:57 PM

Hey darkHeart, is this it? http://www.hydrogen-fuel-systems.com/

Ohmarow Conco Tanoychie darkHeartLord Tuesday, July 8, 2008 9:26:39 PM

it look some what like the one i saw but the one i was not as long so yeah it could be a nother modul of it idk

DeniseDBabbit Wednesday, July 9, 2008 12:01:33 AM

Hey, darkHeart, here we go! lol If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

First, this fuel cell system runs off of water. 97.5% of the water on the planet is in the ocean or inaccessible deep under ground. There is only 2.5% of all the water in the world available for plants, animals and people, and 90% of it is frozen in the polar caps.
http://www.lenntech.com/specific-questions-water-quantities.htm

Second, upon further inspection of the fuel cell, if you've got to fill it up after you use 14 gallons of fuel - well, I live out in the countryside, 20 miles from town - If I go to work 5 days a week, I would have to stop 1/2 way before I even get to town, and then again on my return trip home - and the county roads are not lit. On Saturdays, I do my grocery shopping, pay bills, or take the dog to the vet's. I would be driving approx. 16,260 miles a year. That means I have to fill the tank 602 times a year. With gas at $4 a gallon, that's $2408 I shell out.

Now, convert over, and get 40mpg - That's $1626 for gas - sounds good right? Hang onto your hat. lol With filling the water reservoir every 14 miles, that's 1162 stops, 581 gallons of water @ $0.75 a gallon, is $466.25 for the water. Now, 3 months out of the year, I'll need 146 quarts of isopropyl alcohol to keep the water lines from bursting - That's $1788.50.

Math time!
Converted over, gas is: $1626
Pure distilled Water: 466.25
Isopropyl Alcohol: $1788.50
Total: $3880.75
Now, remember, I'm only paying $2408 at $4/gallon. So, even with the improvement in gas mileage, why would I want to spend more than what I'd be spending without? It sounds good until you do the math - see the first line. whistle

Another thing to consider - With the law of supply and demand, if all of us convert our vehicles, who is going to supply the distilled water?
The grocery stores would up the prices on their supplies, Wal-Mart would never have any when you needed it, and heaven help the old lady that's stopped beside the road topping off her water reservoir, because some punk needed to fill at the same spot - and didn't have any water. Now, you're talking about my mother, who's in her 70s - I am going to get really pissed if someone jacks my mother, and we do have crime here - It's rare, but it happens.

And one more thought - there are 2 million vehiles on the road. If even half of them drive 10,000 miles a year, that's 10 billion miles driven - 714,285,714 times they have to top off the fuel cell with 2 quarts of water - 357,142,857 gallons of pure distilled water, and depending on where they live more isopropyl alcohol - which has to be ordered from a supply house, because Wal-mart doesn't sell it by the case, and considering that it's 30% water, well - you do the math this time. lol Where is the water going to come from? With the lack of rainfall, our water supplies here on the East Coast are slowly drying up, and the Florida Aquifer supports Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The Ogalala Aquifer is drying up, and that one supports 8 states in the Mid-West. sherlock

Water is too precious for something like this. It does sound like a good idea, but needs something else to fuel it besides water - with all the livestock here, there ought to be a way to convert the end product. lol

Ohmarow Conco Tanoychie darkHeartLord Wednesday, July 9, 2008 2:51:49 AM

wow huh sorry but an not reading all that can u dum it down 4 me lol

DeniseDBabbit Wednesday, July 9, 2008 4:04:47 AM

Using the fuel cell would cost me $1472.75 more than what I'm shelling out now. It's driven by water - and that's a no-go. If we can convert animal manure into gas, we'd be better off - and it is being done in Japan.

Ohmarow Conco Tanoychie darkHeartLord Saturday, July 12, 2008 8:25:21 PM

wtf
holy shit y they even make the damn thing if it costs more dum asses lol
