There are a lot of websites out there containing music and videos, such as Youtube, Imeem, Grooveshark, Nicovideo.jp, blah blah blah...
There are many ways to download the files we need from these webs but there is only one tool I prefer. Guess what? OPERA!
For those we don't know what is Opera (if there are any), Opera is the free, cross-platform, and the fastest web browser in the world, packed with great innovated features which all the other browser always copy (such as tabs, speed dial, userscripts, mouse gestures, site preferences, browser identification masks, online profile synchronization (Opera Link), beautiful skins, custom searchs, find as you type, and many many more).
Download it at http://www.opera.com/browser/download/ .First of all, let's talk about "just how to download those files using opera?"
It's really simple. Just watch the video or listen to the music you like on the site you prefer using Opera and the files will be downloaded to your computer autometically.
"And where are those downloaded files?"
They are in your Opera's cache folders. If you are not sure about how too go and get them, follow me.
#1 Type
opera:about in your Opera's address bar and press Enter
#2 Look for the path to your cache folders under the Path section. You will see something like this picture. The path is the line with orange hilight. (Note: I'm using Linux. If you are using Windows or Mac, you will see the page with same appearance but different path)

#3 Select the path to your cache folders. Skip the word Cache in the front. (Ex. mine is /home/r/.opera/cache4/.) Right click on it and select copy.
#4 Go to your cache folder by open a file manager (file browser, My Computer, or anything you use to go to places in your computers). Select all the text in the text box that tell you where you are now (such as My Computer, My Documents, C:\, /home, etc.) and delete it out (ie clear your address bar). Right click and select paste. The path you saw from the #2 step should be there in the box. Press Enter
#5 Now you will see a lot of files named opr00XXX. Arrange them according to their size. (Right click and select Arrange by > Size or something like that, I guess)
#6 Scroll to the largest files in the folder. The files you need should be at least 1MB. Try opening them with your media players, start with the biggest ones. If your player refuse to play any of the files, maybe you need a simple media player to help you. I would suggest
Media Player Classic for Windows and
MPlayer or
VLC for all the three os.
#7 The last step after you find your files is to copy them to the place you want them to be and to rename them. I think you know how to copy files, but renaming is a bit more complicated. Normally, the files from youtube are flv files, but some high-quality ones are mp4. Imeem's are flv. Grooveshark's are mp3. Nicovideo's are flv. If you already know which format your files are, you can rename it to whatever name you like plus ".flv" ".mp4" ".mp3". But if you do not know, your media players (which can play your files here) or the three I suggest in #6 can help you. Just play those files one by one, find their properties, and see whether they are Flash Videos (flv), MPEG4 (mp4), or MPEG3 (mp3).
These may be a bit complicated but it will be easier after doing them a few times. I think this is the only disadvantage of using this method. However, the advantage is that you can download just everything you want to without finding specific software for each one.
Anyway, there is a software which helps simplifying these processes. The software is called
OperaCacheView. It is easy to use, no installation required, and its size is just 61.7 KB (o_O!). It works with Windows and Linux with Wine (but you have to give it the path to your cache folders. I tested it on CrunchBang).
This guide, I think, is quite unclear. I tried to write it quickly (because i'm going to bed late already, tomorrow is full classes and i have to wake up early (- -") ) but end up spending two hours with it (= =*). If there are anyone reading til this point, I want to tell you that I'm really glad and wish that what I wrote is helpful for you. If possible, please leave some comments (even one smily or emoticon is welcome!). Feel free to write. Don't worry about your English. (I'm not that good in English too.) I will be really, really glad to see some responses. Thank you.
