L2D2's ALL NIGHT GARDEN PARTY

If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

, ,

I like to alternate my jokes and funny stuff with something a little more serious on occasion. This just spoke to me because, as a whole, I find most of these ideas, concepts and statements to be true. Life is a strange brew and we never know what's around the next corner---or even if there will be a next corner. So, here are some truisms that might strike a chord with you or set you to thinking. You may have come across some of these statements before, but I think they bear repeating.

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born. A Death Certificate shows that we died. Pictures show that we lived! Have a seat . . . Relax . . . And read this slowly.

I Believe.... That just because two people argue, doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe... That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I Believe... That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe... That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I Believe... That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. :frown:

I Believe... That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. :wait:

I Believe.... That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe... That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe... That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe.... That either you control your attitude or it controls you. :furious:

I Believe... That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe... That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe... That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time.

I Believe... That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe... That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe... That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, and what you've learned from them.....and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe... That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe... That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe... That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe... That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life Forever. rip

I Believe... Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I Believe... That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe.... That even when you think you have no more to give, if a friend cries out to you........you will find the strength to help.

I Believe... That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe... That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything.

Thank you God for all the wonderful people who help us throughout the journey of life.

:smile:Linda,

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

and I believe that you are a decent, loving, lovable, caring, open minded and kind-hearted person ... a blessed day meeting you here and a bliss to call you my friend

Stardancer 8. September 2009, 02:57

I love this e-mail. It has such simple proverbs.

Thanks for sharing, Linda.

Mina 8. September 2009, 02:58

So many I could point to. My mind is boggeling. :faint:

Sometimes the serious things need to be talked about.

I expect some major discussion on this one.

:o:

Darko 8. September 2009, 05:03

In connection to the last one, we have saying here that life is what happens to us while we make plans for something to happen.
Dancing in the rain

dirk 8. September 2009, 05:09

 I know thi sdifferently, I guess it's quoting John Lennon, but I'm not so sure ...
"Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans." ... but nevertheless I agree with a 100% ... waiting for the next rain to dance a little

Linda 8. September 2009, 05:12

Dirk, thank you so much for those sweet words. I don't think I deserve them, but I am really happy if you believe that. You and Theresia are such a joy to me and I, too, feel blessed for having met you two.

Linda 8. September 2009, 05:13

Star, they are simple, but so very true. Sometimes I get these things and they just miss the mark with me----they sound good but do not touch me. These touched me because they are how life really is and I can relate to each one of them. Thanks for your comment.

Linda 8. September 2009, 05:16

Mina, they fit on so many different levels, that I had to read them over and over again to absorb them. Of course, I was struck particularly by
I Believe... That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

That absolutely sang to me.

Linda 8. September 2009, 05:19

Dare, we've heard it a million times in different words----it isn't the destination that is so important, it's the journey getting there that makes up our lives. But I like the way this person said it above "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain."

That is a very graphic description that leaves an impression in my brain.

B.S.Kushwah 8. September 2009, 06:22

I feel your true expression from heart & soul.

I say Please remember to visit http://my.opera.com/bskushwah/blog/2009/09/05/please-remember

Thank you for visiting B.S. Kushwah

Carol 8. September 2009, 07:17

"I Believe... That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself."
That is a very hard one for me. Especially with God, I have asked him to forgive me but it's hard to forgive myself.

"I Believe... That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become."
Amen

Great post Linda.

Stacey 8. September 2009, 09:28

 this is a very good post Linda  thank you.
I love dancing in the rain

Mina 8. September 2009, 13:48

Carol, I relate to that too. :o:

And Linda, I believe that. And I see examples here of great epic friendships and yes, love too.

The next one (if I recall correctly) talked about friends are going to hurt you sometimes... Which is also true. The good friends are worth forgiving.

Funny how some things on Opera have more depth than in the everyday world we bumble around in.

Tamil 8. September 2009, 15:20

Stacey 8. September 2009, 15:42

Linda, I just read this to Paul. "Awesome"

Shaunak De 8. September 2009, 16:18

That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

Strongly Agree.

Mette 8. September 2009, 17:48

"I Believe... That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, and what you've learned from them.....and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated."

Yes..
And at the same time not let the child in ourselves disappear!
I think life gives so many kicks in the ass and heavy burdens that we need to loosen up and let all the experiences in life just be there in case. And never to forget. Rather learn.

Linda 8. September 2009, 18:16

Carol, I know what you mean. Sometimes God forgives us for past sins long before we forgive ourselves for those same things. It IS hard.

If you have learned to dance in the rain, Stacey, then you are already ahead of some of us. And I am happy if Paul found something good in the post, too.

Linda 8. September 2009, 18:19

Mina, I have developed some deep friendships here that I truly believe will last forever and develop over the years and love.....well, I have seen that first hand, too, so I know that can also be true.

Monkey, banana banana monkey :D Glad you liked my post.

Linda 8. September 2009, 18:25

Shaunak, I believe that one, too. An obvious example would be a car wreck with a complete stranger whose actions caused you to lose someone you love. Whick undoubtedly changes your life. I am sure you can think of others. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Mette, so true. I have met a lot of 50 12-year-olds, and some 12-year-olds who had the maturity of a much older person because of their life experiences. I guess chronological years is, after all, just a means of keeping records. And no need to be afraid that I will lose MY inner child! :D

Carol 8. September 2009, 18:57

Thanks Linda.

:eyes: :yikes: Tamil, Linda gave you two banana's. :D
Hurry and come get them before she changes her mind.

Linda 8. September 2009, 19:04

 banana banana banana banana banana
One for each day of the week. I am feeling benevolent toward Monkey today.p:

Carol 8. September 2009, 19:07

  :D

Linda 8. September 2009, 19:08

Do you feel better Carol? You seem to be in a better mood.

Carol 8. September 2009, 19:10

Not yet, working on feeling better. Darn stubborn thing. :D

Linda 8. September 2009, 19:11

Wonder how long it will take to pass the darn thing? I will think "Begone" commands at it.

Carol 8. September 2009, 19:12

It should only take 48 hours but it's stuck. Stubborn thing.
Thank you. Hope it works. :D

Linda 8. September 2009, 19:12

"Out, out, damned stone!" to paraphrase Shakespeare!

Carol 8. September 2009, 19:14

 :D

:sst: You forgot the magic :wizard: :D

Linda 8. September 2009, 19:15

oh, OK! :wizard: :knight: Out, out damned stone!

Carol 8. September 2009, 19:17

Thank you. Awww, much better now.

Linda 8. September 2009, 19:55

Thanks Graham. Glad you liked it.

Linda 8. September 2009, 21:05

I have always loved that song. Not to be morbid, but that song was sung at the funeral of a close frined of mine and Chris'

Suntana 8. September 2009, 22:06

I Believe... That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time.

That's us here on the OC. Remember the supposed concept of the TV Show Seinfeld? A Show about NOTHING. Yet it was hilarious. Well, NOT everyone will agree. I know Seinfeld does have his share of detractors.

I Believe... Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

Yep, sooo true. Where I see Hot Babes, you see Ho's, Peppermint.

Stardancer 8. September 2009, 22:43

Linda, that was exactly what I meant. Simple. The most basic things in life. The things that matter.

Linda 8. September 2009, 23:19

You are so right, Star. And these things aren't high flown, idealistic concepts. They ARE everyday facts.

Chuck, yeah, you are right. And that thing about the friends is true for real life friends and online friends. We can talk about anything here and enjoy the just being together.

Hi Sweet Thing. You full enough?

Tamil 9. September 2009, 01:45

Suntana 9. September 2009, 02:08

Peppermint, now you can sing to Tamil, Chaka Khan's - Sweet Thing
:sing: I would love you anyway,
Even if you cannot stay.
I think you are the one for me.
Here is where you oughta be.
:yikes: :jester:

Mina 9. September 2009, 02:09

Thanks Linda.

Suntana 9. September 2009, 02:10

Did Chaka Khan have any other Hits other than Sweet Thing? That's the only one I know.

Linda 9. September 2009, 02:25

I have no idea Chuck. I wasn't a big fan of Chaka Khan.

Mina, why are you thanking me?

Monkey, glad you are full. Can't have you leaving my garden hungry!

Mina 9. September 2009, 02:28

I have my reasons. I'm sorry if I'm confusing.

Linda 9. September 2009, 02:32

That's OK, Mina. If you feel like explaining to me you will. I'll just say that if I have helped you in some way, then I am glad.

Mina 9. September 2009, 02:36

 Thanks.... again.

Linda 9. September 2009, 02:37

My pleasure. Always like to help out a friend.
