A good reason to empty all those bottles whistle

DHdarkesthour Tuesday, January 17, 2012 7:39:31 PM

If he wants to send me full beer bottles I can return them empty free of charge, as long as he covers the postage of course cheers

L2D2 Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:20:41 PM

Dh, I've been wondering where all those colored bottles came from. I don't know of any blue beer bottles. But then I don't drink beer.

You should get in touch with him. He might make a deal. whistle I'll bet he doesn't get bottles from NZ every day of the week. http://files.myopera.com/L2D2/STUFF/Smilies//girl_crazy.gif -

DHdarkesthour Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:22:02 PM

Blue beer sounds a bit cold...

Dacotah Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:22:48 PM

Here's his website:

Very interesting how it came about from chasing away to capturing the evil spirits.

I saw something on tv yesterday that I never knew.
The meaning of quilt design. Helped in the underground railroad. A book is out called "Hidden in plain view, A secret story of quilts".

L2D2 Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:25:03 PM

Dare, that is no excuse to drink more beer. p bigsmile

Btw, how do you like Canadian and American beer?

L2D2 Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:25:37 PM

Have you made it across the border to our side yet?

Carol, that sounds interesting. I love quilts. Never did any hand quilting myself, but my mom quilted all her life.

L2D2 Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:28:45 PM

I've heard Brti drink their beer at room temp. Here, the colder the better. The only time I've ever enjoyed drinking a beer was when it was slushy with ice, half frozen.

L2D2 Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:31:27 PM

Chuck, I know what you consider art. You tend to slap it all around your blog, so we can't miss your art gallery. Oh well, I like male body art, too. devil http://files.myopera.com/L2D2/STUFF/Smilies//sarcastic_hand.gif -

DHdarkesthour Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:32:37 PM

That old thing about Brits drinking warm beer dates back to the time when the keg sat on the bar, I have not seen that in over 20 years and that place was very unusual. Brit pubs sell cold beer these days bigsmile

So, the origin of the bottle tree probably came to the South from the slaves out of Africa. I think that's a logical conclusion.

I would like to have a bottle tree for my living room. I like it.

L2D2 Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:34:04 PM

What the heart can conceive the hands can do.

Dacotah Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:37:30 PM

It sure was, the meaning of the designs that helped the underground. I sure want a copy of that book.

Here's a video I found

I can't find a video from the show I saw him on. It's was on OWN network. Sorry for the length of it.

Beautiful! I love unique art like this!

Room temperature Beer?! bigeyes
GET A ROPE!
Wayyy back in my Beer drinking days, if a Beer was a tad on the Non-Super Cold side, I'd pour it in a glass with ice. headbang Or I'd put it in the Freezer for a bit. On some occasions, I did forget about the Beer in the Freezer and doh I'd have a can of solid frozen Beer.

Hmmm??? idea I should have cut off the can and I would have had a Beer Popsicle ... Beersicle. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/ThumbsUp.gif - Since I drank Budweiser, I guess it'd be a Budsicle.

Suntana Wednesday, January 18, 2012 12:05:58 AM

Way back in the Wild Wild West days, they MUST have drank room temperature Beer, right? I seriously doubt behind the bar at the Saloon they had a big ole chest of ice cold Beer.

L2D2 Wednesday, January 18, 2012 12:14:36 AM

Chuck, don't thnk ice was available unless you had some high mountains handy to your location. I think when they DID get ice, it was wrapped and stored underground to keep it from immediately melting. Guess they didn't have soda pops back then.

L2D2 Wednesday, January 18, 2012 12:16:27 AM

I think we (Americans) must be the only country that demands ice cold beer/drinks. Of course, I don't know that for sure. Maybe some of our neighbors from across the pond will enlighten us as to how prevalent iced drinks of any kind are.

L2D2 Wednesday, January 18, 2012 12:22:39 AM

Hi Lois. Yes, I do too. When I first started my blog I did a video on sand painting. That fascinated me also. And there is an artist in Australia called, if I remember correctly, Bruno Thorps, whose art is absolutely stunning and unbelievable and fantastic. Type in his name and it will take you to his site and you can see what I mean.

I'm going to check first and put a link to my old post here.

Aha, it's Bruno Torfs. http://my.opera.com/L2D2/blog/2009/03/17/bruno-torfs-australian-artist

I just installed the Kindle eReader app on this PC and downloaded a bunch of free books from the Kindle store. That, with the ones I have on my Ematic EReader should keep me busy for awhile.

Suntana Wednesday, January 18, 2012 12:53:30 AM

I sure wouldn't want anything to do with a room temperature Dr Pepper, Coke or any other Soda. scared But, I do remember wayyy back when I was a kid, we'd go over into Mexico to visit my grandparents on my Dad's side and other relatives. Sometimes we would end up drinking room temperature Coke. Sometimes even worse ... room temperature Pepsi! http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/Scared.gif - http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/LOL.gif -

I'm not saying Mexico in general was like that. It's that this was a little town out in the middle of nowhere. I'm talking most houses being Adobe houses and having no electricity or running water.

Mad Scientistqlue Wednesday, January 18, 2012 1:41:25 AM

When ya live in a mud hut, a refrigerator is the least of your concerns. left .
Ice cold drinks are the norm here. You'll find ice cold coke and ice-lolly popsicles sold from boxes in the middle of the Karroo. p .
The 'warm beer' myth relates to fresh beer. If beer is freshly brewed it is still warm and has a unique taste. It's not the same as warning up the stale beer that's sold in bottles and cans. rolleyes .

FIFINELEB Wednesday, January 18, 2012 3:47:13 PM

I remember the time when there was no coke. No need to have ice,eh? Good old time... smile Have a nice day all of you and especially Linda. smile

Canadian beers are excellent! Well, most of them, I have found only one kind so far that has no good taste, feel more like a very very light pale ale lol
Local breweries has excellent drafts yes
I am not sure I have drank any American beer here, but I have seen few, Bud Light for sure and one more kind that I can't remember name now p

L2D2 Wednesday, January 18, 2012 11:40:54 PM

Dare, Budweiser is our best selling domestic beer I believe, so when you try some, let me know what you think. They also drink a lot of Miller beer. And in Texas, we have a little independent brewery near San Antonio, Tx caller Shiner Bock Beer, that is gaining in popularity, at least here in Texas. Samuel Adams also seems to be becoming popular...at least they advertise a lot. Corona Mexican beer also can be found easily.

I know some foreign beers, like Michelob (sp), Heiniken and Kreuger-Pilsner are around too. I've lost track of most beer since I don't drink, especially beer. Nasty, bitter stuff

L2D2 Wednesday, January 18, 2012 11:42:47 PM

Yoda, I don't remember the time before coke, but I do remember when it was dispensed in the glass bottle from a metal box full of ice with the drinks stuck down in the ice to keep them cold.

Please have a nice day yourself.

L2D2 Wednesday, January 18, 2012 11:47:53 PM

Chuck I wouldn't want a hot soda pop either, but I believe hot Dr. Pepper is drunk by lots of people, or used to be.

I also remember when it was popular to mix tea and Pepsi, or tea and RC and serve it over ice. I drank that stuff when I was growing up. Mama didn't make it, but various church members would serve it when they invited the pastor (Daddy) and his family to a meal in their home.

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, January 19, 2012 8:05:09 AM

The Karoo is a desert where they sometimes farm sheep. It cover the western half of South Africa. (give or take)

Magsintothedeep Friday, January 20, 2012 11:59:15 PM

One of those would look fantastic in my apartment -- I especially love all the colors!

I wonder what one would cost?

L2D2 Saturday, January 21, 2012 4:46:52 AM

I have no idea Mags. Probably can find out by going to his web site. I'd like one myself. If I had the metal tree, I could come up with my own bottles.

L2D2 Saturday, January 21, 2012 4:51:16 AM

Yeah, Mags, largest is $400 plus shipping, small bottle bush is $100 plus shipping. Shipping is probably pretty steep, not sure. Gonna look more on his site.

Angeliki, thanks for that link. I especially liked the spoon flower and the guitar. Woot!

L2D2 Saturday, January 28, 2012 4:33:54 AM

Chuck, thanks for that gratis boost to my morale. I did go recently to check on the top blogs, just out of curiosity to see if I'd made it yet---I discovered I WAS there, but don't think it was as close as page 8. Anyway, of course I was thrilled about that. I love to know that people visit my blog whether they ever comment or not, although I really appreciate it when someone new does comment

L2D2 Saturday, January 28, 2012 4:36:28 AM

Chuck, I knew the background was pretty big, but it didn't take long to load for me, so I left it as is. I'm getting lazy about resizing images. I AM enjoying my new photo editing apps in Vista and Windows 7 though. I really like Photo Pos Pro and Photoscape.

PainterWoman Saturday, January 28, 2012 5:43:22 AM

Oh I love this more than you can imagine. There's a catalog or two that has been delivered to my adress where you can buy the 'tree' to put all these bottles on. I would have to do this against my daughter's wishes as long as I live with them. On my own, I could see my whole back yard with these bottle trees. I think they are beautiful and does a good deal of recycling as far as I'm concerned.

Reminds me a little of Chihuly glass art.

FIFINELEB Saturday, January 28, 2012 9:33:45 AM

A great and prosperous week to the two most generous ladies in the world. (the wine for me and the bottles for you. Haha!) Kind regards to Linda and Pam. smile

L2D2 Monday, January 30, 2012 1:30:12 AM

Pam I totally agree. It is a shame that your family doesn't share your taste in art.

Now that you mention it, I remember that post you did on Chihuly's art glass and it is reminiscent. Maybe some time soon you can get your own little place close to your granddaughter, and you can fix it up as you please. Do some commercial art to pay the rent or something.

That's the reason I just abhor the thought of having to live with someone else. I was very grateful to stay with my brother and his wife after I got out of hospital, but I have to admit that I was bored to tears and frustrated at not being able to do things my way. For someone who has lived alone for many years, living with someone else is really tough.

L2D2 Monday, January 30, 2012 1:31:02 AM

Yoda, thank you, but I would like to share that wine if you don't mind.
