About me

I am a Christian first. Rabbits and spinning are my hobby, although I do attend shows and sell items too.

Well constructed phrases captivate me.

I am a computer professional turned embroidery digitizer. I am blessed to be able to spend time at my favorite hobbies now, too. Spinning, knitting, designing knitwear and other items in exotic fibers.

You can view my digitized designs at http://www.zstitch.com/designs.htm

I also collect vintage sewing machines, including treadle machines and I make purses and other items out of various materials. Treadling seems to put me in touch with those who went before us. As I do it, I imagine what the others who used the machine before I did were thinking about, the news of the time and if they had any notion of the import of the events of their time. The fashions made on them aren't as interesting as imagining the times to me.

My work

I used to be heavily involved in music, but as I've grown older, I no longer need to torture myself with performance. I like to read and write. I am an aspiring writer now days.

Fast facts

  • At the movies I like to see:I don't "do" movies. They bore me to tears, usually. If it is good enough, it'll go on network TV eventually
  • Last movie seen:Kite Runner, awesome movie & book
  • Music I listen to:Classical, R&B, less music all the time, though. Lebeque sisters, Vanessa Mae, etc.
  • Best album right now:Jane Monheit - Taking a chance on love
  • Favorite author:Neal Stephenson is current fav. Too many to recognize. I like complex stories like Cryptonomicon, not into "literary" type fiction, but I do like some of it
  • Last book read:The Art of Racing in the Rain, A Good Man is Hard to find, Anathem - Slowly slogging my way through Miss MacIntosh, My Darling.
  • Best game right now:Best game ever is Icebreaker (pyramids). Not even interested in anything else.
  • Favorite sports team:Indianapolis Colts & I'm embarrassed to say it, Indiana Pacers Pacers looking up, though.
  • I'm passionate about:Truth and logic. It seems critical thinking has become a lost art. Demogoguery is what usually wins the day, sad to say.
  • I wish I could:Travel, but I wish I could speak more languages, so I could go off the beaten path
  • Favorite travel destination:Wilderness, hiking. I'm not into huge challenges, just like the serenity
  • If I won 1 million dollars, I would:Donate to abused women & children shelters, retire to a beach somewhere
  • If I were a super hero I would:Expose corruption - but that wouldn't be enough, would it? You'd have to broadcast it and then take people by the hand and stop them from still voting for, or doing biz with those people.
  • Fashion I rather not see again:Bell bottoms, Beehive hairdos
  • I want my coffee..:I like a little coffee with my cream
  • Food I like:Mexican, Chinese. Anything fresh and delicious
  • I don't like:Phonies and manipulators - I hate manipulators, once discovered, you're off my list of friends for sure
  • Software I use:Novell, LInux, Open Office rocks!, Pulse digitizing, Corel, Macromedia
  • Hardware I use:I stay off the bleeding edge, preferring to see what will attract software support
  • I discovered My Opera from:On SuSe version of Linux.
