Pigeons in Social Media

Because “sharing is caring”…

As an AIESEC member, I truly believe in networks’ power to change the world. AIESEC is the largest international student-run organization. AIESEC is focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development and it offers opportunities to develop personal and professional skills.

During my time in AIESEC, I realized how important social media is. It’s the most effective way to share information with different people who have the same values and interests as you have. Expressing freely my ideas, giving and receiving feed-back…All these helped me grow as a person and as a professional. I have stopped thinking local and I have begun to act global. It’s good to meet people from different cultures, to be curious to learn from them, to find out what is their opinion about certain subjects and to be aware of cultural differences. But how do you maintain all these relationships you built when you live on different continents? How do you do that when you can’t see each other every day? Human beings are wonderful. We have found so many ways to improve communications and to keep us up to date. Even I describe myself as a classical and old stuff lover, I believe progress without technology it’s not progress. Isn’t that beautiful how technology and Internet improved our lives? It’s wonderful to have so many possibilities to learn and to communicate with friends or simply with unknown but interesting people. We need beautiful minds to create tools to facilitate our life. In my opinion, social media is a mix of technology and social interaction that creates even more value and gives us power to have a global impact.

When I first saw the description for this Opera internship, I knew is the perfect organization that matches my expectations. My biggest motivation is to be part of an international team for which mutual respect and excellence are the most important values. My AIESEC experience, as well as my internship experience as marketing trainee at Centre des Jeunes Dirigeats d’Entreprise in Tunisia, thought me to think outside the borders and to become more cultural sensitive. After 9 months in a different culture, I am more aware of cultural differences and I know how to adapt my behavior and my marketing campaign for each country. What works in one country, doesn’t work in another. People have different conceptions, different values. Another self improvement after this experience is the fact I have became fluent in French. I am able to work for my home country and also for francophone world.

I have always had the willingness to continuously improve myself. I am not a specialist in social media and it’s not so long since I discovered its mystery, but I am a person who wants to learn more about it. What I love about social media is the fact it gives me freedom to choose, to create, to bring value and to develop my self-awareness by becoming aware of others. I think social media builds a strong brand. Stakeholders want to have the freedom to interact, to give feed-back and to communicate their desires. Social media gives transparency and let them see the backstage mysteries.

I would love to be part of a team who realizes the connection existed between creating the intangible of employees’ and clients’ happiness while creating the tangible financial profits of our business. Opera Software matches my expectations regarding the perfect workplace to transform my talents into benefiting use for the company and to keep developing my skills.

Communication skills are the most precious things we have. Let’s make them efficient and share our ideas with the others. Good ideas worth spreading. They have the power to change people, communities, to change the world…
