The General Certificate of Secondary Education or GCSE is a certificate that is issued to students between the age of 14 and 16 and only on certain subjects. This certificate is awarded to students in the United Kingdom but there is also an international version of this program known as IGCSE, and it can be taken anywhere in the world. If you are or have a student in your family who needs one of these certificates, they can take any number of subjects, but math, science and English are mandatory before completion.
To expedite the entry process, application can be made as early as 13 years old, though classes wont start until the student reaches 14. There are many elective courses also available from expressive arts, society related subjects like the social sciences, IT courses or foreign languages. In each section there are a minimum number of passing grades required to move on to higher studies.
There reason for this course work is to give some sort of examining body an opportunity to test each student and evaluate their performance with respect to the subjects taken. The testing includes both practical knowledge and theoretical understanding. Students must submit regular papers done in different writing forms that range from the informative to the argumentative to test the students communication skills. If the student is working in a science course they will need to conduct various experiments and write a report on the progress of the experiment and the results as well as the students conclusions. Students are required to write in the accepted style of the region they live in, because of the very large difference in writing styles between American and British style English. Students will be expected to understand the difference between the two writing styles and be able to write effectively in both styles.
One of the biggest challenges for all students is to learn how to write effective essays and other written presentations. Some students are naturally more talented than others in writing but even for gifted students learning how to communicate effectively with the written word can be difficult. Writing for school is a very narrow field, forcing the student to direct their thoughts in one direction and organize them on paper. It is usually advisable for students, or their parents, to hire a tutor to help the student over many of the humps they will encounter. The basic principles of writing need to be followed as closely as possible, the paper needs to be structured according to those principles and the work should be clear, information based on facts, and logical. This work requires time, patience and a good attention to detail.
There are a great many services online that will help students with their GCSE work and they will guarantee that the work is written properly and uses all of the correct writing styles. These are professional writers who understand the various writing styles of the U.K. regions and can easily frame the work in those styles.
