Opera for Nintendo DS - US Release Announced!

, ,

After many months of waiting and speculation, Nintendo has finally announced that Opera for DS will be released in the United States, according to ign.com. The release schedule handed out by Nintendo of America at GDC 2007 indicates a June 4th release date.

I already have a European copy of the DS browser here in my office (in San Diego), but I'm glad to see it being released in more places. I use Opera Mobile on my smartphone, and even Opera Mini on the same phone, a lot more than I use the DS browser, but for those who have Wi-fi access either at school, public hotspots, or at home, it's a nice addition to the DS (which is cheaper than any smartphone or PDA I can think of, and it plays games a whole lot better).

PS: The new MyOpera community site is pretty sweet, don't you think?

A DS Linux cartidge would be frikin' sweet as well... I wonder if you could get some emulators on your DS using Opera... Probably not, since it is so secure & has nowhere to save it to...
