Opera Mobile 8.65 for Windows Mobile now available

, ,

For those of you using Windows Mobile devices, Opera Mobile 8.65 for Windows Mobile is now out of beta and available for download (30 day free trial). It's a great product, and full of great features to keep you occupied until Opera Mobile 9. I'd install it myself, but I broke the screen of my Windows Mobile device months ago :worried:

New Opera-enabled smartphone released in China

,

In general, I find that cell phones are kind of ugly. That's why I appreciate bold new designs, like the new Motorola A1200, a Linux-based smartphone just released in China. The phone is expected to be available in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong first, followed by availability in the US sometime later. Most importantly, the phone runs Opera.

From the article on LinuxDevices.com:
Other touted A1200 features include a bluetooth radio, business-card scanner, and a 1.3 megapixel camera mounted just above a mirror, to assist with self-portraits. The phone comes with a full Opera browser, Picsel document viewers, a Java environment for user-installable applications, and Motorola's MotoSync client software.

Cute, but powerful!

Opera announced for Nintendo DS

, ,

According to the press release:
In Opera's agreement with Nintendo, Nintendo DS users will now be able to surf the full Internet from their systems using the Opera browser. The Opera browser for Nintendo DS will be sold as a DS card. Users simply insert the card into the Wi- Fi enabled Nintendo DS, connect to a network, and begin browsing on two screens.

Given the low price of the DS, and considering its various capabilities (dual screen, touchpad, etc.), this is very exciting news indeed.

According to brianj:
Opera will have two modes: fit-to-width mode (similar to what mobile users are already familiar with their mobile phones using the Opera Mobile browser). This mode will use Small Screen Rendering to fit the page across both screens. Alternatively, there is a DS mode which displays an overall page view on the lower screen (where you may use the touch screen to navigate around a sort of "mini map") and read the text on the top screen in full-sized view.

According to DS Advanced:
The Opera software is currently slated to release in Japan during the month of June at the price of 3800 yen, roughly $30, and will include ATOK Kanji conversion software.

Hopefully, we will see this soon in the US (and other countries).
