Năm nay với tình hình kinh tế tài chánh suy sụp toàn cầu, hai vợ chồng tôi chỉ muốn du lịch ở Mỹ và Việt Nam, đi chơi, xài tiền, góp phần giúp hai quê hương này vực dậy kinh tế, thoát khỏi khủng hoảng.

Một số bạn bè đã rủ chúng tôi đi chơi vùng Bắc Âu Châu thăm viếng Nga, một số khác rủ đi tham quan Trung Quốc, lênh đênh trên sông Dương Tử (Yangtse river), nhưng chúng tôi nhất định không đi. Thôi để năm tới vậy.

Những hình du lịch trên thế giới này chúng tôi đã chụp lâu lắm rồi, mấy năm trước, nhưng chưa có dịp post lên blog. Trong entry nầy, xin chia sẻ với các bạn một vài hình ảnh kỷ niệm chuyến viếng thăm một thành phố rất đặc biệt, đã gây cảm hứng cho nhiều văn hào nổi tiếng thế giới E. Hemingway, Orson Welles và G. Elliot..

Ronda là một thành phố rất đặc biệt, nhỏ, xưa, nhưng đặc biệt. Ronda chỉ cách thành phố biển Malaga 100 cây số, nhưng phải lái xe lên núi cả tiếng mới tới. Đường lên Ronda rất đẹp, các bạn có thể ngồi nhìn trời đất mây núi, cuộc đời vui quá.

Ronda là một thành phố xưa mấy ngàn năm, dân số chỉ 35,512 người thôi, nhưng ở đây có một trường đấu bò xưa nhất còn hoạt động. Spain nổi tiếng về đấu bò, nên ai tới đây cũng đi tham quan trường đấu bò “Plaza de toros de Ronda”, xưa nhất, đã đào tạo nhiều thế hệ matador nổi tiếng nhất nước Tây Ban Nha.

Nhiều văn hào nổi tiếng thế giới đã đến đây tham quan viết lách, làm cho thế giới biết đến và muốn tới tham quan du lịch. Các bạn có nghe nói tới nhà văn nổi tiếng của Mỹ đã từng đoạt giải thưởng văn chương Nobel, là E. Hemingway không? Các bạn có đọc cuốn “For whom the bell tolls” không? Ở Saigon ngày xưa tôi thấy có ai đó đã dịch cuốn sách này, lấy tựa là "Chuông gọi hồn ai?” Trong sách có mô tả cảnh chánh quyền xử tử những chiến sĩ kháng chiến. Cảnh đó dựa trên chuyện có thật đã từng xảy ra tại Ronda..

Trong entry này xin chia sẻ với các bạn một vài hinh ảnh hai vợ chồng tôi tham quan thành phố Ronda nhỏ bé nhưng nhiều lịch sử này.. (Sẽ bổ túc sau. Các bạn tự do chép lại bài trong Blog. Tuy nhiên xin các bạn nhớ đề tên tác giả và đường link của bài hoặc Blog. Cảm ơn nhiều.)

Ronda ở trên núi cao hơn mặt biển 750 thước. Sông Guadalevin đã đào sâu núi đã thành một canyon rất đẹp.

Tham quan đấu trường (bullring) xưa nhất còn hoạt động đến ngày nay. Chúng tôi cũng tham quan bảo tàng viện trưng bày quần áo và khí giới các tay matador nổi tiếng đã từng đấu bò tại đây

“Ronda is a city in the Spanish province of Malaga. It is located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) from the city of Málaga, within the autonomous community of Andalusia. Its population is 35,512…

Ronda is situated in a very mountainous area about 750 metres (2,500 ft) above mean sea level. The Guadalevín River runs through the city, dividing it in two and carving out the steep, 100 plus meters deep El Tajo canyon upon which the city perches. The Spanish Fir (Abies pinsapo) is endemic to the mountains surrounding Ronda..

Another important site in Ronda is the Plaza de toros de Ronda, the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain that is still used, albeit infrequently. It was built in 1784 in the Neoclassical style by the architect José Martin de Aldehuela, who also designed the Puente Nuevo.

The partially intact baños árabes ("Arab baths") are found below the city and date back to the 13th and 14th centuries. Both the Sufi scholar Salih ben Sharif al-Rundi (1204-1285) and the poet Ibn Abbad al-Rundi (1333-1390) were born in Ronda.

The former town hall, which sits next to the Puente Nuevo, is the site of a parador, and has an impressive view of the Tajo..

Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles spent many summers in Ronda as part-time residents of Ronda's old town quarter called La Ciudad. Both wrote about Ronda's beauty and famous bull-fighting traditions. Their collective accounts have contributed to Ronda's popularity over time.

Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls describes the murder of Nationalist sympathizers early in the Spanish Civil War. The Republicans murder the Nationalists by throwing them from cliffs in a Andalusian village, and Hemingway allegedly based the account on killings that took place in Ronda at the cliffs of El Tajo.
Orson Welles said he was inspired by his frequent trips to Spain and Ronda (e.g. Wells unfinished film about Don Quixote). After Wells died in 1985, his ashes were scattered in a Ronda bull-ring. About Ronda, Welles once said, "A man is not from where he is born, but where he chooses to die."

The fictional hero of novelist George Eliot's book was Daniel Deronda, the story of Spanish Jew brought up as an Englishman in the book of the same name. Eliot was the pen name of Mary Ann (Marian) Evans. There is some 'fun' speculation that Evans' ancestors may have lived in Ronda prior to the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492…”
