Mùa xuân đả thật sự đến với New York. Trời ấm áp dể chịu. Bông hoa nở rộ rất đẹp. Hôm nay mời các bạn tham quan một vườn hoa nổi tiếng tại New York của tôi, Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Theo lời Wikipedia, đây là một vườn hoa nổi tiếng thế giới, rộng khoảng 52 mẩu (acres), với hơn 10,000 loại hoa và cây cỏ, với số du khách đến thăm viếng hơn 700,000 người mổi năm.
Trước cửa vườn hoa, hoa anh đào nở sớm mới giửa tháng 4 đả bớt đẹp, sắp tàn rồi. Trong vườn hoa, nhiều loại hoa anh đào khác đang nở rộ từ đây tới giửa tháng 5..

Tại khu hoa “magnolia” (Magnolia Plaza) hoa nở cuối tháng Ba, bây giờ sắp tàn nhưng vẩn còn rất đẹp..
BBG có khoảng 200 cây hoa anh đào Nhật thuộc 42 loại khác nhau thứ nở sớm vào đầu xuân cuối tháng Ba, thứ nở vào tháng Tư, và thứ nở vào đầu tháng Năm. Theo từ điển bách khoa Wikipedia, đây là một trong những địa điểm quan trọng để ngắm hoa anh đào ngoài nước Nhật.
Cây hoa anh đào đầu tiên được trồng tại đây sau thế chiến thứ nhất, do chánh phủ Nhật tặng.

Khu vườn hoa Japanese Hill-and-Pond là vườn hoa Nhật đầu tiên được xây lên tại Mỷ, vào những năm 1914-1915. Người Nhật tác giả vườn hoa nầy là một người Mỷ gốc Nhật tên Takeo Shiota, được sanh ra ở một làng nhỏ ngoại ô Tokyo. Thời niên thiếu, ông đả du lịch khắp nước Nhật, ngắm nhìn vẻ đẹp thiên nhiên của Nhật, giúp ông sáng tạo nên tác phẩm để đời nầy.
Vườn hoa Nhật nầy rộng 3 mẩu, gồm đồi núi, cầu cây, thác nước, hồ cá, hoa anh đào rất đẹp vào mùa xuân ...
“BBG's Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden was the first Japanese garden to be created in an American public garden. It was constructed in 1914 and 1915 at a cost of $13,000, a gift of early BBG benefactor and trustee Alfred T. White, and it first opened to the public in June 1915. It is considered to be the masterpiece of its creator, Japanese landscape designer Takeo Shiota (1881-1943). Shiota was born in a small Japanese village about 40 miles from Tokyo, and in his youth spent years traversing Japan on foot to explore its natural landscape. He emigrated to the United States in 1907.
The garden is a blend of the ancient hill-and-pond style and the more modern stroll-garden style, in which various landscape features are gradually revealed along winding paths. Its three acres contain hills, a waterfall, a pond, and an island, all artificially constructed. Carefully placed rocks also play leading roles. Among the architectural elements of the garden are wooden bridges, stone lanterns, a viewing pavilion, a torii or gateway, and a Shinto shrine. A restoration of the garden in 2000 was recognized with the New York Landmark Conservancy's 2001 Preservation Award.”
