Âu Châu nhiều lịch sử. Tham quan Âu Châu, chúng ta hiểu biết nhiều hơn về lịch sử con người. Ðả có thời Âu Châu làm bá chủ thế giới.
Tiếp tục đi giang hồ, hai vợ chồng tôi tham quan Krakow, thành phố đẹp nhất cũa Ba Lan, thủ đô củ gần 500 năm trước khi Vua dời đô về Warsaw. Krakow hiện vẩn đứng đầu, là thủ phủ về văn hoá cũa nước nầy. Mổi năm gần 7 triệu du khách đến tham quan thành phố nầy, gần 3 lần số du khách đến thăm viếng Việt Nam.
Tại Krakow có nhiều chuyện để xem, để làm. Trước hết chúng tôi đi thăm khu Do Thái Kazimierz nổi danh thế giới vì đây là bối cảnh cũa một cuốn phim đoạt nhiều giải thưỡng điện ảnh thế giới, và là một trong những phim hay nhất lịch sử điện ảnh Mỷ, phim “Schindlers’s List” do đạo diển Steven Spielberg thực hiện.
Phim nầy diển tả lại một chuyện thật cũa Schindler, một thương gia người Đức đả cứu sống cả ngàn người Do Thái suốt thời gian Hitler muốn tiêu diệt Do Thái… Sau khu Kazimierz, tôi và người tình trăm năm đả đi nhiều nơi khác như tham quan lâu đài Royal Castle mấy trăm năm cũa Vua Ba Lan, nhà thờ các Vua Chúa Ba Lan đăng quan và chôn cất, nơi an nghỉ cuối cùng cũa vua chúa, và đặc biệt lang thang khu Chợ Củ (Market Square), thơ mộng và dể thương, ăn thức ăn Ba Lan, vui chơi hòa đồng với người địa phương, thật vui.
Buổi chiều chúng tôi đi tham quan hầm mỏ muối đá (Wieliczka Salt Mine) rất đặc biệt, thuộc danh sách di sản thế giới cũa UNESCO (World Heritage), như Vịnh Hạ Long cũa mình. Buổi tối vợ chồng tôi đi ăn tối, thưỡng thức rượu và các thức ăn đặc biệt cũa người Ba Lan, và đặc biệt nhạc và các vủ điệu dân tộc Ba Lan. Mời các bạn theo dỏi loạt bài nầy và xem hình.
Khu Do Thái Kazimierz
“Kazimierz is a historical district of Kraków (Poland), best known for being home to a Jewish community from the 14th century until the Second World War..
During the Second World War, the Jews of Krakow, including those in Kazimierz, were forced by the Nazis into a crowded ghetto in Podgórze, across the river. Most of them were later killed during the liquidation of the ghetto or in death camps…
After the Second World War, Kazimierz, mostly abandoned by its pre-war Jewish population, was now settled by the poor and the criminal elements, becoming a backwater area with a reputation for being unsafe at night. Many old buildings were not repaired after the war devastation and became empty shells. At least one synagogue building was torn apart by scavengers seeking hidden Jewish treasure.
However, since 1988, a popular annual Jewish Cultural Festival has drawn Cracovians back to the heart of the Oppidum and re-introduced Jewish culture to a generation of Poles who have grown up without Poland’s historic Jewish community.
In 1993, Steven Spielberg shot his film Schindler's List largely in Kazimierz (in spite of the fact that very little of the action historically took place there) and this drew international attention to Kazimierz. Since 1993, there have been parallel developments in the restoration of important historic sites in Kazimierz and a booming growth in Jewish-themed restaurants, bars, bookstores and souvenir shops.
A Jewish youth group now meets weekly in Kazimierz and the Remuh Synagogue actively serves a small congregation of mostly elderly Cracovian Jews.”

Schindler's List

“Kraków là một trong những thành phố cổ nhất và lớn nhất của Ba Lan, dân số năm 2004 là 780.000 (1,4 triệu nếu tính cả các khu lân cận.
