I'm checking out renderers. Any good advice. looks like they run close to $1000 for VRay and Maxwell. Any others that compare in quality that you know about? Do you use any?

Sprogger McSprogsprogger Sunday, April 18, 2010 12:51:44 PM

I just use the Lightwave`s built in renderer myself so there is nothing else I could personally recommend. It can give spectacular results though up
How is your short film going for you?, I haven't heard anything in a while now.

Bryan S. WelbornWezall Tuesday, April 20, 2010 6:36:59 AM

Ah yes. Thanks for asking. Work and life as well as my natural tendency to get sidetracked has well...side tracked me. Actually I've learned more this year I think about animation than I have in the last few combined.

I've studied the Reactor portion of Max, with its physics and object collision effects that I'll need to do some things for the short. Still working on Character animation, modeling, bones and all that. So very much involved as you know.

Creating this short has many tertiary rewards. One of which is my coming out on the other end as a Character Animator, well rounded modeler and full scale texturing maniac. As well as lighting director, camera guru and visual story teller extraordinaire.

My apologies for not reporting on progress and I thank you for your patients. We will "endeavor to persevere."

Oh, and I'm still considering you , Eric and some others as ON the TEAM, and will get with all as soon as I can to begin parsing up what we need to do and see who can and should do what.

Have you a Second Life account??? It would be a great multi-person global live voice meeting method once we reach that point in this project. Or even before just to connect on ideas etc. I will ask the other dudes.

I had one years ago but I didn't really get the point of it back then

Bryan S. WelbornWezall Wednesday, May 12, 2010 6:12:44 AM

Spent my day off today mostly knocking a character around from 3DS Max to Mudbox and back to Max. Did a few renders along the way and will post ASAP. Reminds me of Hoggle from Labyrinth.

First attempt at normal mapping was frustrating so I tossed it. I have an obj file if ya want to mess with it.

Laterz.
