I looked at the web page you suggested about improving IQ, and the ways to improve your IQ score are extremely similar to what you should do to get a better SAT score.
I am going to start a series of posts on the basics of C++ Programming, so if you are interested you should also read it. It is just going to cover some very basic concepts as I am only an intermediate programmer (if that). Do you think I should start a different blog to post them in? I might do that so I can keep posting regularly in this blog as there are going to be about 20-30 lessons.
I am, however, going to delay my posts a little because this December I am going to write my SAT Reasoning Test and I have to work a little
Finally, I found Furie's blog quite interesting, even at a first glance, and when I get the time I will investigate further.
Nice speaking to you again

All the best for the SAT test.

My son Yannis had an IQ of 130 at the age of 11 in an adult IQ test!
I wonder if I am adopted to a Greek family! I know my IQ it is average (not that I ever measured it!) and I am comfortable with it! Actually Einstein had the IQ of 127...
Great Job, Leo the One!
Make all of us proud!

Changing the subject, I believe that the IQ test is not very accurate, as someone without a Westernized style of education, even though he/she may be a genius, will score nowhere as high as an individual with some training and and average intelligence. I found that since studying mathematics outside the range of the school curriculum (mainly from the Internet) my score increased noticeably.
There I go, ranting on again...
All right, now I am back and I am better than before!!
I shall start (when I overcome my laziness) a new series of posts on computer science and efficient use of your PC, with many fascinating

I will be eagerly waiting for your every post.Where did you learn such fluent english?
Angelikiellinidata # Thursday, January 10, 2008 3:40:59 AM
nice meeting you too!
I do believe the IQ of each individual can be best measured by what he does in the field that he is in.
For example,
If you visit a dry cleaners place and see how they short the different kind of materials, how they label them and how they keep track of each pick up,I totally find it genius. If you see a nurse in a neo natal department feeding changing or giving medicine to babies that can not communicate, that I feel it is genius. When I see a reporter taking notes in a war zone at the time of danger, coping with a life and death situation and later giving us details ,I think that it is genius.
In other words, high IQ can be in various fields, can always be improved by practice or additional studies and before you know it you do end admiring the mechanist of human that it is absolutely genius!
My dear Kira,
I agree with you about educational matters. I did teach Greek American children the Greek language and I did find that kids that had no financial problem attended the private schools for a third language.Spanish, French or Chinese it is the choice of a second language in the US schools.
However since the funding it is private you do realize that kids that expand their education i.e in Greek they will eventually do better in later studies in Medicine,Archeology, Anthropology...Why? Because most of the terms have Greek origin.
With my poor English I can stand next to a doctor and understand a 99%. Thats a unprivilege that an extra education can give. I hope all kids can have an opportunity that we never had growing up.I used to be in a village of 50 people and in a two room house the 6 grades of elementary school took place... That didn't give us much either....
Brains with no opportunity can only go that far.........
Stay well,
Angeliki

I agree with ellinidata's statement concerning how many words in English are derived from Greek, and I guess that is just one of the factors of my fluency.
Anyway (enough of my rambling already!), since you are discussing education, there is one comment I would like to add: I find it really stupid that we have to do 6 hours of Ancient Greek (!@#?) every week at school and there are no computer lessons!!! Do you not agree that studying the past is far less important than subjects in accordance to the future, like computer science?
I have to cut it short now.
It was very nice speaking to you, and you are always welcome here to discuss anything.
Farewell

Computer classes are a must to keep up with the todays needs.
One shouldn't diminish the other. Both are important.
There are other subjects that can be reached as well in Greek schools:
1. Other religions.
Greeks we are so brain washed that Greek Orthodox is the only religion out there, we end up having no idea of what we are talking about with people that have different believes.
Knowledge it is power.
Learning about the religions of the world it is knowledge.
2. Sex education.
When in America a child(at age 6) starts to learn about STD in many countries HIV and unprotected sex it is something that even adults know very little about.
3. Politics.
Greeks are famous about their political involvement.Yes, it is true. Looking at the two parties that dominate for centuries we wonder:why only two parties??Why all leaders come from the same family again and again?
Why you do find a job over night if you have the right"connections"
Both my kids are in High Schools that study American/Global History.
Participating in debate groups and competing with other High Schools on various subjects ,gives them another acceptance of political ideas.
The it is one rule: No personal attacks.
Every thing has to be proven.
In my country(Greece) the democracy has been twisted by personal feeling...
So, every thing has to be in moderation:
Ancient Greek,
computers,
religion,
politics,
sex education...
Greeks do have brilliant minds. They just have to realize that this is the 21st century..............
KYrenKYren # Wednesday, January 16, 2008 3:18:24 PM
I agree with you on the subjects that should be taught in schools.Surprisingly in the country of the Kamasutra and Khajuraho temples,it's become a taboo to speak about sex.Sex education works as a vaccine that can prevent STDs and misconceptions.
I speak english with Indian accent.Plz say what you think about my english.
Angelikiellinidata # Wednesday, January 16, 2008 6:42:57 PM
You should be very proud of your English!
