Have you tested the open-in-background-with-shift UserJS script? It doesn't seem to work for me, as the newWindow.blur() function seems to be stuck trying to execute in the original tab, but the new tab has already opened with focus, ignoring javascript in the source window.

I have not tested this with older versions of opera as I've only discovered your script today while testing kestrel.

I've just answered my own question. My "Allow lowering of windows" javascript option was off, and that's why it wasn't working. Enabling that option fixed it.
