Hennepin County Library - one of my favorite libraries and true leader in the implementation of emerging technologies on their website is starting a new online book community.

With Book Space online Hennepin County library " users can post comments on what they're reading, sign up for email alerts on new books by their favorite authors, receive daily excerpts from books via email" and research them in the library databases. In addition participants in the electronic book community could also listen to books, create and browse lists with favorite books/authors, sign up for email and RSS feeds update for new books and receive daily excerpts from books via email.

I will briefly point you to two of the innovations at the website of Hennepin County Library: the first one is RSS feeds for new books, classes, subject guides, catalog searches and the second one are the comments of books available with the library catalog.
