Produce Screencasts for Your Library With Jing and Veeple

Your library wants to create a screencasting video on how customers can use the subscription databases from home via the website and you are scratching your head and don’t know where to start. No worries.

Read our post first, because we have covered screencasting before on our blog.

ReadWriteWeb blog recently found out that one of the free tools for screncasting - Jing is now offering a pro version ( paid_) for only $14.99 a year.

Jing Pro uses a premium video format (MPEG-4 AVC) that's better at recording rich content from your screen...No more bloated video files! Jing Pro produces tidy, compact files that are quicker to upload and download... That Jing branding you see at the beginning and end of your videos? With Jing Pro…it’s gone, like magic.

What’s not to like here. For few extra bucks, you get more control of your screencasting videos: high quality, smaller files, no logos and format, which can be edited in other movie editing sites. "The free version of Jing records videos in the SWF format, and TechSmith's Camtasia Studio is one of the few programs that can actually edit those Jing-produced videos"

Recording and uploading screencasting is one of the easiest things to do. I have worked with Camtasia ( owned by TechSmith, same company that created Jing) making screencasts and was surprised how smoothly the software works.

If you want to add text or links to webpages on your video use Veeple, a new tool for annotating online videos

Veeple is a new online video tool that lets anyone add interactive, clickable spots (which they call "VeeSpots") to video. The spots can offer text, links to webpages, links to documents, PowerPoints, or PDFs, or to other video
