Gale Starts State Papers Online And Buys HighBeam, SirsiDynix Enables Reviews, Ex Libris And Serials Solutions With New Products

Some database deals went through at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, that we need to talk about. Most of the info for this post came from NewsBreaks blog of Information Today

In September Northern Light started, the SinglePoint Government Opportunities Edition,"the first hosted market research portal specifically geared to help companies identify sales opportunities with federal, state, and local governments throughout the U.S."

Two months later Gale developed a new database called State Papers Online I, "designed to be a cornerstone digital resource for all historians and students of early modern Britain and Europe." Later in December Gale acquired HighBeam Research, Inc., producer of the award-winning HighBeam Research Library and the online reference site Encyclopedia.com. Read the press review for details.

Just before Christmas SirsiDynix declared partnership with the book review engine ChiliFresh, "offering libraries and patrons an easy way to create and read reader reviews, with complete customization abilities for libraries".

In January 2009 Ex Libris released Ex Libris Rosetta, a digital management software that supports the "the acquisition, validation, ingest, storage, management, preservation and dissemination of different types of digital objects". EContent has more info.

Last week Serials Solutions (part of ProQuest), delivered their new Serials Solutions 360 Resource Manager Consortium Edition, an electronic resources management program that allows multiple libraries in a consortia to " manage holdings, subscription, licensing, contact, and cost information for their group and streamline delivery of information to all group members."
