The American Library Association (ALA) is asking Congress for $100 million in stimulus funding to aid the nation’s working families during the current economic crisis. Aid is sought to stem the bleeding of critical library services that help Americans with job searches, small business development, financial literacy and other essential assistance in hard economic times.

As you know public libraries are funded trough taxes and in the current state of the economy many libraries lost a lot of their funding.

It is critical for libraries to get the money, because some has already reduced staff and services. Libraries are one of the few community places where citizens affected from the crisis can get free Internet access, take computer classes and find job retraining materials.
