Light formed Command in 1959 with the specific aim of capitalizing on the emerging market of stereo fanatics. He wanted his recordings to take maximum advantage of left-right channelization without stooping to tricks like "ping-pong" effects. He was a meticulous engineer and put as much effort into the quality of his recording equipment and production systems as into the music itself. He tested a number of New York studios before selecting , and he was the first to arrange the musicians to suit the audio effects he wanted to achieve. He devoted a considerable amount of prose to describing the acoustic aspects of each number--to the point that he started a new LP packaging format, the gatefold, to fit it all in. Finally, he set Command LPs apart on the store racks with bold abstract designs, the first few by the artist Josef Albers. Source: Spaced Out
There should be very few regular visitors to Licorice Pizza that are not familiar with Mr. Light.
Recently Mr. Snookles @ Third Island culled together a post of links to all of the Enoch Light albums he could find and there are bunch.
However there are a few not listed there that are in the kitchen being prepared. The first one being Command Performances. Enoch Light chose, for this album, his favorite recordings and compiled them all to one vinyl. As of yet this album has not been posted at any blog that I am aware of.
We will serve up the rest as they come out of the oven! Hot and Tasty Vinyl. Yummmmm!

LP,
Many thanks for the Light LP; I am thoroughly enjoying it!
May you and the better half travel safely and discover many new things on your seaboard tour. If you get that far north, I highly recommend going over to Bar Harbour - the lobster cannot be beat, and the homemade fudges, chocolates are to bloody die for! Eat a lot for me (better yet, mail me some and I will enjoy!). Seriously, though there is a samll shop next to the village square along the harbour famous for its homemade goodies; they change their offers almost daily depending on the whims of the owners, but the "turtles" are orgasmatronic . . .
Cheers,
Jazz-Nekko

Well anyway, here's another Enoch that hasn't been posted to my knowledge - A bit battered & worn but sounds ok to me. It's called "4 Channel" and it's from 1971 in wonderful Quad-Stereo. A mish mash collection combining tracks from years old recordings EL made, though not one of his best compilations.
