A glimpse of Heaven

Frightening

There are lot of frightening things happening in the world every day!

Today I caught a glimpse of what the French Revolution must have looked like.
I saw how the rebels in Libya grabbed Ghadaffi and held him in his arms. At that time, already dead. Our Norwegian broadcasting decided not to show the part where "they dragged his body along the streets where people trampled on him" ....

Terrible. Nauseating.

And then, the next thought. All the terrible things Mr. Ghaffadi did when he was alive, his terror attacks, how he tyrannized his own people. So all things have its reasons.

Still I found the pictures today frightening. This is the mentality/culture in which our Old Testament was written. I rememberer my "old" Bible teacher (a woman) tried to tell us that the laws of the old Testament was adapted to the time in which they were written, that's why they were so harsh. Maybe...

Anyway. This world is very frightening sometimes. I'm happy to live in a very peaceful country. And I want to try to keep it that way. I love our Christian humanistic culture's way of thinking and the emphasise of value of each and every person. And I want to keep on fighting for that - with words, deeds and prayers... But not with weapons. I pray that God keep us safe and open our eyes for what we have.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

The whole affair in Lybia is nauseating. The reasons for Nato's interference in what was always an internal tribal conflict is another debate but I felt very sickened that photos of his executed body were on the front of all of the newspapers the next day at child's eye level. I felt terrible that children would see this and become desensitised to wartime violence.

Hmm... Not so worried about that single picture as I am about thousands of violent movies/games that are meant to be entertainment... I often wonder what will be the long term result when each generation finds it necessary to break the limits that the previous one held for sensible...
