God Is King over All the Earth

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.

Clap your hands, all peoples!
Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
the pride of Jacob whom he loves.
Selah

God has gone up with a shout,
the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm![a]

God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
he is highly exalted!

This psalm is one of those that have kept coming back to me again and again. I think it is something about how GREAT God is, that he is actually worthy of singing and "praise" ( a very not Norwegian word. We don't like to praise anything!! ) Here is one of the crossing roads between my culture and God's culture - He encourages me to praise Him, tells me He's worth it, that doing so sets thing in the right perspective in our lives, even somewhere it says that praising God gives wisdom. Maybe I need to have an even greater understanding of this? Because I don't think it comes naturally - I mean - in our self centered world where most things circle around our own wellbeing - ( " Because you're worth it.......?? " )- do we naturally praise and thank God for all the good things we experience every day?? I don't think so!!

But this psalm says He IS WORTH it.
