First off, I would like to say "hi" to the new members I see that have joined the Group. I know with the coming various holidays (at least around here) that things can get hairy so I thought I would put out a message to let you know you haven't joined a dead group, just a group getting started.

I guess part of why I started this group was because I joined another group previously which did... well, nothing. There was no Forum for people to communicate with, the photo album was empty, there was only one blog posting and that was it. I also realized there was no way anybody could contribute if they wanted to.

Thus, the idea for this group was born.

Whether or not this idea will fly, or is even (technologically) feasable is another matter altogether, but being "open" is at least what is in mind at its inception. I think of it as a non-developer Open Source project for growing and sharing our experiences, knowledge and jokes.

So for our new members, please try and help personalize this Group; write a Blog, upload some Pictures, update the Links, use the Forums, try it all.

If it works, then I should be able to see something new when I next come to the group. If it does *not*, however, please leave me a message and let me know what happened and what you saw. If it is a case of a setting that needs to be configured then I'll let you know it's changed and try again!

Heck, if you put up or do something just to try it out and are unable to delete or change it, let me know as well.

So hopefully we can see some fresh and new content showing up sometime soon. I think we have the chance to really build something new, fresh and entertaining here.

Welcome, one and all.Too Many Linux Distros? I think Not!

I keep telling co-workers, if you want IT to show up to a meeting you need food! Doesn't matter if it's donuts and coffee (kudos if they think ahead and include Diet Coke), but food will get IT into a meeting.

Just have to be ready to get the ENTIRE IT department if you don't keep it quiet enough.
