By the way, why are you %#&@% on the post office? For 44 cents, someone comes to your house, picks up some piece of crap you wrote, and takes it to Wyoming on a plane.

I've pretty much given up keeping up with the Daily Show and Colbert Report for the time being - meaning I've given up watching them altogether, 'cause I'm NOT one to skip shows, either I watch it all or I watch nothing - so these are all rather old, hope the links are still valid:

http://www.quickstopentertainment.com/?p=3424 A good article on what defines a superhero-story and -character, and one that makes a rather lengthy discussion of Buffy. I particularily liked the statement on "24" being by far a more typical superhero-show than "Heroes", and I agree. The article lacked a sense of conclusion to me, though, but it was well worth the read.

Yeah, yeah, I forgot to post this Sunday, give me a break, I've got two exams to study for and I'm spending like maybe four hours on it every day. That's half a work-day. *shudders* The pressure is insane. INSANE, I tell you. I'm so glad I only have this insane amounts of work to do something like two months every year year. (:D)

Seeing as I got à jour (see? I learn) on Colbert Report this week, and I've been studying (see above) quite a bit, so there has been little-to-no other surfing meriting linkage.

http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/media_player/play.jhtml?itemId=70489 It's - too - tragically - silly

http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/media_player/play.jhtml?itemId=70483 Did I say tragically silly? I meant FUCKING INSANE.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYaczoJMRhs I'm not much of an activist - heck, I'm way too cynical to consider it, way too lazy to to it if I actually considered it, and way too emotional to be able to do well it if I actually tried - but the guy does know how to make with the speechifying. (Which isn't all that odd, as "speechifying" is probably a word invented by him.)

http://www.brickgirlandoscar.com/BG007.htm XD Truth!

http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=326 The strip has been somewhat weak lately, but with this one, it's back!

Links of the Week Strikes Back

, , , ...

First of all, in case not everybody reads Obdormio's blog - which they should - go read this:

http://www.cheshirecrossing.net/

Suffice to say, there's a reason I just re-watched Mary Poppins.

Second of all, the list:

http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/000495675.cfm?page=1 Fabulous interview (not surprisingly, both the guy asking and the guy answering are creative geniuses) but with sad news on the Buffyverse-movies front. Sigh.

http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20060614 :D

http://www.start.no/tegneserier/dilbert/?1150495200

http://www.killsometime.com/Video/video.asp?ID=526 "Heh heh hee! Tacos rule!"

http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/media_player/play.jhtml?itemId=70748 XDXDXD Jon. The Stewart of Bush-bashing Comedy!

http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/media_player/play.jhtml?itemId=70273 And now he debates seriously (and rather well, methinks), too! :o: (Also, "gay marriage has caused a lot of problems in Norway"? WHAT THE FLYING FUCKETTES?)
...of course, he can do it with satire, too.

Links Of The Week Are Here Again

, , ,

And though I've barely been online this week, I've still managed to gather together a few:

http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=321 This joke is so geeky on soooo many levels.

http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=322 I've actually several times wondered about the same thing. According to the line of events in this comic, I should probably be happy I haven't voiced my musings out loud.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=lRgnrsFwenI&search=Picard A new level of absurdity. Thanks to Obdormio for the linkie.

http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/media_player/play.jhtml?itemId=70227 Cher and The Marines' new body armor!

Links of the Week

, , , ...

Seeing as though I'm going to be busy for the most part of tomorrow and Net-less Sunday and Monday, I'm posting the Links of this week now. Seeing as this became a very short week, there's not all that many links:

http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/05/30/jack-bauer-is-too-good-cia-tells-sutherland/ XD XD XD

WEBCOMICS

http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=319

This entire Haley-can't-speak-and-has-a-crush-thing is getting dreadfully old. While there are jokes enough to indicate that he knows that, that's just a lame excuse for not ending it.

http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20060531

while Ethan at times can be an unsympathetic psychopath, there are also times when you want to be like him. Like in this strip. (I'd not like to be him in whatever strip comes next, though XD)

SUPER-HERO COMICS

Sigh. No X4, then, in all likelyhood. Also about the spin-offs:

There's some good news on FF2: http://www.superherohype.com/news/fantasticfournews.php?id=4323

STAN the MAN

THE DAILY SHOW
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stewart_(comics)

UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE XD Apparently, for running a fake news-show, you need a vast and extremely exotic range of past experiences:

Highlights:

John finally forgave himself for his past mistakes and grew into a stronger, more complex hero when he became the caretaker of the "Mosaic World", a patchwork of communities from multiple planets that had been brought to Oa by an insane Guardian who had raped John's mind. Using his formidable intellect and talent for unconventional thinking, Stewart forged the Mosaic into a new society and eventually ascended to become the first mortal Guardian of the Universe, known as The Master Builder. As his reward for this new level of awareness, John was reunited with his late wife, Katma Tui. However, tragedy struck once again and Hal Jordan, possessed by Parallax, destroyed both the Guardians and the Central Power Battery, robbing John of his newfound powers and his resurrected wife.

Stewart gets a new girlfriend: superheroine and supermodel Mari Jiwi McCabe/Vixen. At first he treats this as a rebound relationship, but once Shayera returns to the League, he's conflicted by feeling for both women. These feelings are exacerbated in "The Once and Future Thing", when he travels to the future and meets his son with Shayera, Warhawk.

The other unique aspect of Stewart's character is his loyalty to his old neighborhood where he grew up. Because he spent years in space on Lantern duty, he sometimes feels like a stranger when home; he often relates events around him to similar things he saw out on his duty.

Touching. Really.
