Loki's sensible nonsense of nonsensical sense

HADES - a series of attempts at finding a look for the character

, , , , ,

In relation to my webcomic, I suddenly felt like conceptualizing the Greek god Hades if he ever was to show up in LE. I doubt he will, unlike Odin and Loki, I don't feel Hades can retain his dignity while part-taking in a LE-strip, and to my mind, Hades is the very soul of dignity.

But if I find a way to use him, I will.

Anyway, first the sketch, which I for some reason did by hand:

Then I added colour with the computer! (ooooh, technical! For me, anyway)

Then I started fiddling away until I arrived at the final product-thing:

And that's Hades. He looks about one hundreth as cool as I'd envisioned him when I got the idea, but as my drawing-talents are about a gazillionth as able as my imagination, I consider that a small success.

Shepherder writes: Hey, he looks like a cool dude. But if he would be good in LE? I am doubting, but hey, you are the genious... (Among the two of us at least.)

Well, you know, it was always my intention to gradually slide in more and more mythological characters and stuff. Thus far there's been one major character (Odin) and one minor character (Byggvir) which is obviously from mythology - both of these being from the Norse one. Several of the other characters introduced this far, however, are in truth mythological personalities as well, they just appear in other shapes and with other names for the time being. I'm sure that at least A Banana will turn out to be something quite other than A Banana at some point in the series, for example, it was always intended to be something more, I just don't have a good idea for a strip exploring this yet.

In the near future, however, you will run into quite a few additional characters from different mythologies. They would have appeared sooner, but both the Latin and the Hungry-arcs took me more strips to get through than planned.

Shepherder writes: Well, you must of course decide what to do with your strips. I for one think that it won't be any good with other characters from other mythologies. But then again, you should know best. By the way, I read American Gods these days (Good. Good.) and have got to the sequens when Loki shows up. And I am slow. Low Key. All I would have to do was reading it loud.

Exactly, that's the brilliance of it.

I had *not* gotten that, either, however, I knew Loki was involved, and that he was - well, a lot of stuff you'll soon find out. But the "Low Key"-thing was too early in the book for me - I suspected Low Key was a god, and I even suspected he was Loki, and yet, I never saw the similarity in the name. o

Somehow, I forgot to respond to the on-topic bit of your comment:

Well, maybe this won't be popular, but it is something I've both been planning and wanting to do more or less from strip 1, so it is going to happen. Hopefully, you'll like it. I can disclose to you that one such mythological character will appear already this Thursday.
