Pen Fanatic’s Confessions

The idea of fixedly collecting tools rather than building a skill sounds questionable. I consider the expression of, “putting the cart before the horse.” My collecting of pens led me to realize that the ancient way of writing with a steel point is the best way for me to write.
By trial and error I eventually found the best writing instrument. I came back to a Taiwanese made, cartridge filling, fountain pen frequently for walking and writing sessions. It features a German, steel & iridium nib. In contrast, an expensive pen has more useful features and fits my hand better, but the inexpensive one provides more value.
On the other hand, I felt skeptical about buying weighty, French, writing paper. I protested to my Twitter contacts by posting the idea that that my writing deserves inexpensive paper. After I took a plunge by buying better paper I wrote more frequently.
My handwriting makes a simple ink pen into a useful implement. Any fountain pen has a design that may lead to reuse for me and for future generations. Exorbitantly priced fountain pens, while excellent perhaps, do not suit a walking writer. The inexpensive pen does.
