Hi, everybody! smile For those readers who read, or who saw and intended to read, the recent post "Devotional: Choosing the Wrong Jesus" (about Jesus and Barabbas) and wondered why it disappeared: after several unsuccessful attempts to post the devo in outline form, I discovered that the CSS (Custom Style Sheet) used for Opera blogs does not support using such outlines, called "nested lists".

So, since I really want to have the post in outline format, I have posted the devotional on my second blog, "HasSopher's Sayings". You can view the post there at: Choosing the Wrong Jesus

See ya soon,

Dewayne

Anonymous writes: what is the plan of salvation?

Anonymous,

Sorry to be so long in answering. I'm a teacher and just now have the leisure to write back. The plan of salvation is God's gracious, freely given provision to meet our sin problem. While salvation is God's free gift, Ephesians 2:1-10, mankind must respond to God to accept his gift. What human beings must do in response to God is the plan of salvation. I have been explaining God's plan of salvation as part of the series of my blog articles "Marks of the New Testament Church". I will be writing more and posting more articles this summer, God willing. Meanwhile, here is a summary of the plan of salvation along with key Bible passages to study, and the names and links to the blog articles which I have written so far discussing the plan of salvation.

Summary of the Plan of Salvation:

1. Faith in God, and in Jesus as his Son and our Savior: Hebrews 11:1-3,6; Romans 3:21-24. Our faith must be based on God's message to us in the Bible, the Holy Scriptures or Writings, Romans 10:17, 2 Timothy 3:14-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21.

2. Repentance, or change of heart and life concerning our sin, motivated by sorrow over how we have wronged God and other people. Luke 13:3,5; Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 7:8-10.

3. Confession, or public acknowledgement of Jesus as Savior and Lord, Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Timothy 6:12-13.

4. Immersion in water (baptism), by which we reenact Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, and call upon him to cleanse our sins with his blood, which was shed in his death. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:1-14; 1 Peter 3:20-22.

5. A life of faithful trust in and obedience to Jesus, Revelation 2:10, 1 Peter 3:18-25.

Here is a list of my blog articles and links to them that deal with the plan of salvation (more will be written this summer):

I encourage you to study both the summary of the plan of salvation and accompanying Scriptures, and these articles of mine with a prayerful heart and an open mind, resolving to seek the truth and not rest until you find it. I believe firmly that if you approach things this way, God will honor your quest for his truth and help you find it. It is my privilege to help you in any way I can. If you have additional questions or comments, please feel free to comment again, message me on Opera, or email me at dewayne.mary@futura.net.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your comment. I believe also that there is one God, the God revealed in the Bible. However if you read the post in question ("Choosing the Wrong Jesus") you will see I am dealing with false views of God and of Jesus, and pointing to the correct views as revealed in the Bible. I encourage you to read the post and then write again with your comments or questions.
