Introduction

One of the greatest blessings of the Christian life is that it is not a solitary life: it is a life lived in community, with others making the same journey of faith. No matter what our difficulties, we are not alone, for not only do we have God to help us, we also have the family of God, the church, to strengthen us. If you have not yet started your walk with Christ, and fear it is too lonely, take heart from the truths expressed in this poem I wrote some years ago...truths drawn from God's assurance in the message he has given in the Bible. Come walk with me and others of his children. Come walk with us, and with Jesus who walks with us and leads us as the Good Shepherd.

Do
two walk together

unless
they have agreed

to
do so?--Amos 3:3

Come walk with me

dear friend,

And experience with me

A wonderful adventure:

Shared happiness and sorrows,

Shared dangers and victories,

Shared peace of mind,

Hope of heaven,

Joy in believing.

We'll walk together

Hand in hand

With the Savior

And with each other.

Together we'll face down

our fears

Together we'll pass the test

And endure everything

the old dragon can

throw at us,

As we call upon JESUS

and his mighty power--

The mighty power he

so graciously

Shares with us.

And if you should stumble,

And if I should swerve

aside from the trail

We'll lend one another a shoulder

and a hand,

A tender heart and

a prayer,

To help each other

Go right again.

Dear Christian friend,

We are so blessed.

And if we walk in

God's love as

He intended,

We'll be a blessing

to each other

And to all around us,

All along life's journey;

All the way to that City

Prepared by God.
