Scooter update

Thanks to my quiet riding, they changed the gum belt but the other parts of the transmission were still in good shape.
Since I saved some from the expected bill, I had to buy a new helmet because the previous one had the interiors falling apart. It is not a good thing when you take the helmet off and you have pieces of it stuck on your forehead.
I bought a new one in the same class and from the same italian firm but given they have added any sort of gadget in the passed years, the helmet is expensive, 200 euros. The thing has: internal sliding sun shield, like jet pilot helmets, detachable front protection, detachable interiors (for cleaning or replacing), provisions for ear and microphone and bluetooth devices (which I haven't bought).
There are cheaper helmets but they don't fit well, don't protect the same and don't last as long. You can find some from chinese firms in the malls.

The reason why scooters and bikes are popular here is that distances are short while streets are narrow and crowded. So if you can live with some cold and wet, it is much faster to commute that way.
Of course it is easier down south where the weather is mild.
