Back to software for burning CDs

I grabbed the OEM version of Nero Suite from my brother. It came with the same CD/DVD drive I also stole from him before smile. After installing Nero 6 (the current version should be Nero 9) I reminded of it like an example of "how to not make software". The most confused, bloated, absurd, useless "suite" ever. It looks like a crew of rabid monkeys put together any sort of software and tools vaguely related to CDs and packaged them with several completely inconsistent but partially overlapping interfaces. I wonder if it is only me and most "users" find this craziness comfortable and efficient or if people who make this thing spend their days under the effect of some psychedelic acid.

Non sei assolutamente il solo a pensarla così ... anzi dici di essere fermo alla 6 ... non hai la minima idea di cosa siano le versioni successive allora (la 6 viene indicata da molti come la versione a cui tornare per avere un Nero decente, sufficientemente leggero, e che non si impossessa del PC con servizi inutili ... pensa un po' cosa sono le successive bigsmile )

Ad ogni modo le alternative non mancano di certo... sia nel mondo open/free, che a pagamento

Io mi trovo benissimo con Ashampoo... offre tutto quello che aveva Nero, è funzionale, è facile e costruito su un'interfaccia davvero ben fatta, ed è leggerissimo

Appunto ho detto della 6, faceva gia cacare abbastanza.

A parte che l'ho citato come paradigma di come non si dovrebbe fare il software, le alternative mancano eccome, ho scritto un post precedente sull'argomento. Partendo dal presupposto che non sono incline a piratare il software, se proprio non e' indispensabile, ovviamente.

Mah... io non penso che non ci siano alternative, anzi... come detto io mi trovo davvero benissimo con Ashampoo ma se si va nel campo del free/open non c'è comunque che l'imbarazzo della scelta:

Senza contare che molti esistono anche in versione portable... cmq adesso mi cerco questo post precedente smile

Currently I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 7 because Nero 6 does not work on Vista and newer version are just so overbloated that they are quite unusable for me. Ashampoo works fine, but I think burning software should be different... Maybe one day I will write one myself...

For me Nero 5, is and will continue to remain to be, the best CD burning software ever. Fast, functional and neat.

All successors are prime examples of bloatware.

I completely agree! My coworker took my laptop and installed it saying it was the best. I was backing up my machine from restore the rest of the night. What a bloated mess. yes

I do not allow anybody to put their hands on my computer with the administrator/full access privileges.
Also because I guess anybody has got something here and there they don't want to show around. smile
