The story of my cream brulé

I finally decided to start cooking something sweet. I was quite a bitch this week with William and cooking his favorite desert will bring me back in track.
The recipes on the Internet looked quite complicated: special ovens or even using fire to burn the sugar. However, I remembered that my mom used to do it simple without any special “kitchen tools”. It was always delicious even if my poor mom never had the chance to taste it.
Backed by courage and high ambitions I started cooking it (8 eggs, sugar, milk and vanilla).I caramelized the first pot and I filled it with the composition. Secondly, I introduced the first post in another bigger pot and… oven for 50 minutes.
Meantime, I wet my flowers from the terrace which are successfully struggling to push away the cold weather.
The nice smell from the kitchen warned me about my “masterpiece”. Without patience I open the door of the oven to check the cream. What a disaster!!! The two pots were incredible heavy so…I dropped the first pot in the second one which was full of water!!!
I have thrown away my cream brulé which did not look “burned” but “watery”. I did not know what to do --start screaming or heavy laugh.
The story did not end there. I restarted and this time it worked. I did not touch any of the pots and I do not intend to do so.
It never happened to me before with any other food but I guess there is always a start for everything. I hope though that William will appreciate it.
As for me… another “cream brulé” experiment will not take place very soon.
