Reconnect with Nature

, , , ...

Close your eyes, put your hand over your heart and ask it to help you recall a moment of pure, simple joy. Chances are, it will lead you to a moment in Nature.

Fully immerse yourself in your Nature-connected memory. Re-experience the colors and textures, sounds, scents and tastes. Relive the richness of your emotions and the sensation of being fully in the present. Rediscover the real you.

How fleeting and few such moments can be, and how distanced we are from their source. Most of the time, we don’t pay attention to trees, or a breeze, or tiny flowers peering through cracks in the pavement. We don’t gaze up at the stars or feel the earth through our feet. We don’t hold babies and share their wonder. We don’t embrace our elders and share their wisdom.

Separation from Nature is separation from our True Nature - from the truth of our connection with each other and our planet. This is why we feel empty and yearn. This is the source of fear and violence we co-create in all its forms.

Project Nature Connect (PNC) guides us to re-connect with Nature and our True Nature, and experience both as unconditional love in action. Here you’ll find the path from fear to love, from violence to peace, from emptiness and yearning to a life alive with meaning and joy.

The most wonderful teachings...

...are from Nature!

I have completed the first six activities of the Project Nature Connect Orientation Course (see http://www.ecopsych.com), and I feel truly blessed by what I have learned.

In activity 5, "Webstring Intelligence", I sensed the beautiful strings and connections (webstrings) that Nature is attracted to create to weave, balance and repair the web of life. I was asked to go outside to Nature and obtain consent from an attractive natural area to visit and enjoy its intelligence. After my visit, I shared experiences with the other Course participants.

Allow me to share with you!

On the way home from work, I was blessed to see another beautiful rainbow, and was inspired to look up for this activity. I waited until night and went out onto the balcony of the 22nd floor apartment where I am staying, and I connected with the two stars I could see in the sky. I couldn't see more because the lights of the Gold Coast around me obscured the starry blackness. What a poignant lesson: that artificial light obscures the truth and beauty of natural light. I thought of of the artificial world we wrap around ourselves that obscures the light of our own true Nature.

Looking up at the stars, I was struck by their natural intelligence - how they shine bright, without the need to plunder Nature and destroy webstrings for their radiance (no coal mines or nuclear waste). I was also attracted to the intelligence that holds the stars in place, suspended like diamonds on blue-black velvet. I thought of our planet Earth, and her place in this infinite sky, and the intelligence that allows her to draw life from our closest star, the Sun.

I sensed the webstrings between the stars and the earth and the sky... and also the moon that shifts the tide of the sea rolling below, just as it shifts the tide within me. I thought of the infinite intelligence that connects us all in harmonious flow - and how we resist this intelligence and struggle and strain against the peace of that flow.

I have been aware of the intelligences of natural, radiant light, and flow on many occasions. How often I have subdued my natural light and stepped out of the flow that my soul longs to embrace to meet the expectations of others! And how, when out of flow, everything seems difficult and out of synch, and little things go wrong. And how, when in flow, magic happens - synchronicity, resonance, joy. And my light shines!

I express my appreciation to Nature for the webstring intelligence it has shared with me in this activity by promising to remain in flow, in balance, and allowing my natural light to shine. I express my appreciation by looking up at the stars and sending them my love.

"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance, like flowers and sweet-scented herbs - and is more elastic, starry, and immortal - that is your success."

Butterflies and Dolphins - Byron Bay Australia

, , , ...

I was at Byron Bay, Australia's eastern-most point, at a crossroads in my life. They call Byron God's country, for its jewel green hills and glistening cobalt sea, and light energy that lifts the soul. As I made my way out to the ocean lookout, two brilliantly coloured butterflies fluttered about me as though beckoning me to continue. And there, in the ocean before me, I saw a school of dolphins playfully leaping over the waves - leaping with the simple joy of being. They seemed to be performing for the lucky few people who had chanced upon them, smiling up at us from beyond the rocks below. I longed to be with them, playing, being, leaping, laughing… and then I realised I was - in spirit!

I felt as though the Universe had conspired to bring me to this point, to commune with dolphins and remember the beauty and the *accessibility* of simple, joyful, play… to remember what it was to be in the moment, the way I had as a child, when "crossroads" was a concrete thing - an intersection - and not an abstract concept for a sense of meaninglessness and emptiness. The empathy I felt - the sense of being *with* the dolphins - swelled my heart with joy. I reconnected with my true nature within, and found it to be part of the irresistible beauty of the nature scene I was in.
