Call Of Duty - Black Ops

I picked this game up at 3:30pm on Tuesday of its release. By midnight I had finished the game. I am now going back and finding the intel packets here and there in the various levels that I missed. The game in its self is not bad, the flashy in and out stuff is a bit much, you get the point that your flashing back to various points in your history as a Black Ops soldier... you could of lost the flashy flash back annoying buzz and so forth somewhere along the line and just made it a bit quicker into the action. Also don't know why but I figured this would be along the lines of the current MODERN trend, and not a flash back to the Cuban missile crisis and Vietnam. But thats okay, I rather enjoyed many of the locations. But the game play was very streamed lined and not very open or friendly for approaching a mission in multiple ways... you were dog chained to some NPC with his FOLLOW yellow tag pulling you along kicking and screaming all the way... whimpering for a bit more freedom. I figured out the plot rather quickly and once confirmed was really disappointed that it boils down to FIGHT CLUB. I was kinda hoping they would of gone another route and you find out your a zombie soldier at the end... or something more along them lines. They had a chance at many points to explain the zombie mod, and had you face off a few here and there.. but alas they failed and missed an opportunity.
Another thing I am a bit upset with is everything linked into STEAM, what you cant stand alone.. I mean have steam as an option for those who want to use it, but then also have your own loader so I don't have to use STEAM if I don't want too.
I have not yet tried the multi-player, but from my many friends reactions, it is buggy and laggy.. I expect it will take a few updates to get it all kinked out. I did however try the zombie game at the end of the game.. by the way after the credits the "MEETING" is very funny and worth the wait. Kennedy fighting Zombies in the white house is cool, but I have no clue how to get more ammo, or turn on power etc.. must be one of them multi-player to fully enjoy things. Seems that is what this game boils down too.. the multi-player. Sad really because even though I do enjoy the multi-player aspect from time to time, there are times I want to just game alone.. and this game offers little replay value in that area.
All in all I give the game a 3.5 outta 5. I don't see much replay value, like in Modern Warfare, it seems to be built more for the multi-player aspects and rips off too many other games to be original. Gun-Game, Zombies, etc as examples. Don't get me wrong the mods are fun, but in a world where there are a ton of other shooters all fighting for your game dollar.. I would of expected more from a CALL OF DUTY game.
