I got my starter box at Target, so I have been playing the beta. this is my personal thoughts on the game.
THE BAD ( beta views )
Log ins, not enough server space to take everyone, also error showing Klingon and Star Fleet log in screens.
Enemies able to shoot though walls.
No settings on phaser weapons, when in ship mode no abilities to target weapons or engines, no diplomacy.
The transfer between ship and player sometimes gets stuck and your a ship in a player world or a player in space.
When in galaxy the speed there is rather slow.
No Lip sync when characters talk. Voice acting is bad.
Ships should have more control options.. too simple.
Not able to buy drinks at the bar.

Away Missions and Space missions.
Character generator is the best I have seen since Conan.
The Ability to customize your ship and uniforms.
The Ability to make your own Alien race.
This game has such great potential, it has something for the Space Sim MMO players, it has something for the SCI-Fi crowd who have been wanting a new style MMO. It also offers the Trekkies a way to get into the world that is Star Trek. With a bit more spit and polish, and a bit more depth this game will be a great game. As it stands now I cant see paying for it monthly.. but that may change as the beta progresses.. and we see what they come out with in the next few months.
