Marie's Musings

A crazy old woman ranting about nothing

Printers

, ,

My son’s printer stopped working and mine certainly wasn’t doing a very good job  so we took a trip to Future Shop and BOTH bought new printers. Of course, he got one that cost twice as much as mine but I am very pleased with the results anyway. Since he was able to install his printer on his own I felt I should be able to do that too. All I can say is that I got my exercise for the week that day. Knee bends, weight lifting, touching toes, stretching, bending and tearing out hair. :faint: Had it all ready to hook up to the computer and found out the clerk had sold me the wrong USB. :yikes: So the next day I had my exercise walking to the corner and climbing on and off buses as well. But, VOILA, I now have a working printer and a beautiful job it is doing.

I was surprised to find that today’s printers come with scanners (at no extra cost) which I am finding very handy. My thought is to take three-quarters of a century, plus, worth of snapshots and transfer them to CD’s which should eliminate a couple of cartons of albums the next time I move to say nothing of cleared space that I can clutter up with keepsakes and ornaments.:o: I sorta figure it will take me the rest of my life to do them all but I will be enjoying the thought of clearing some space so I can begin to clutter it again.

Here are a couple of snapshots, one of my great-grandmother and I on the verandah of the house I was brought up in and the other with my friend’s dog in their driveway.

Great pictures! Whose hat is that in shadow in the second pic? :eyes:

Were those taken in Halifax?

Yes, they were taken in Halifax about 1934 I would say. The hat, I think, belonged to my mother's best friend's boyfriend who owned the dog. Amusing story about the dog was the day I was fussing when Mom had laid me on the floor trying to get me dressed to go home and first thing she knew the dog was standing over me staring her down. She had to call someone to come get the dog. Dogs and I always bonded :D

lots of memories in the old photo albums, not that I remember that far back but I do remember the neighborhood and friends.

What fun!! I love old photos. Last summer I re-photographed his albums from about 1920-something to the present.

It is fun, Lois. It will keep me busy for awhile.

The one thing that disappointed me about my dad's pictures was that on so many of them, there was no description. It would be much nicer to know who these folks were!

Lois, there are some in my mother's pictures I don't know but she was a great talker so I have background on most of them.

That is awesome - to know who these people are and how they lived!!

If I find any gems amongst the old ones I'll post them.

Years ago I had a bunch of re-photos and found a really interesting one. I'll post it if I can find it. It was of 3 men in front of a house. The one on the left was holding a wine bottle, the middle one a picture of a lady and the one on the right had a song book and was singing. Wine, Women and Song!!

Don't you belieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve it!

I kinda like photo albums. They're easier to look at, the pictures are higher res., and they last a lot longer than today's storage media.

They smell better too....

I guess lasting 80 years is a good recommendation but as to higher res. and smell I can't agree. And my old photo albums will not fit into the space allotted to a nursing home bed :D
