My Top Ten Websites

, ,

So, I was bored, and needed something to blog about, so I decided to post what I think the Top Ten websites everyone needs to be on are.

These may not be in order, but I'll try to do my best. I'm also gonna try and leave out a bunch of the more well known websites like YouTube, because everyone is on them.

1. Twitter (www.twitter.com)

  • So, baisically, this is THE BEST status update site in exsistance. Plus, it has integration with just about any social networking site on the planet. It pretty much rocks.

    2. MyOpera (You're here)

    • Most likely, you already have an account here if your reading this, but if you don't, you should sign up, it is the best blogging webstie ever. And trust me I know, I've been on all the others before this.

3. Flickr (www.flickr.com)

  • This is a pretty common site. But most of the people I know use Photobucket instead, and I hate it. So use Flickr to share your photos, it's a billion times better.

4. 12seconds (www.12seconds.tv)

  • This website is still in alpha testing, but it is pretty amazing. Baisically, it's just a community of people posting videos that are 12 seconds long, no longer, no shorter. It has great integration with Twitter, and is a great way to record a quick update. If you want an invite, message me.

5. Ping.fm (ping.fm)

  • An amazing way to update all of your social networking sites at once. As a person who opens 20 different social networking sites everyday, it is a life saver.

6. Vimeo (www.vimeo.com)

  • A video sharing site which is A TON better than YouTube. Just try it out a little. I bet you'll like it.

7. MobileMe (www.me.com)

  • This one's just for Mac users, but to keep all of your Apple stuff in sync, it is AMAZING.

8. Facebook (www.facebook.com)

  • Just for any of my friends that still use MySpace, you should switch to Facebook, it's A TON better.

9. Hulu

  • Except for shows bought in iTunes, this is the main way I watch TV now. Watch whole episodes of your favorite shows with limited commercials.

10. Meh, I don't really feel like doing a ten. p

Well! That's all of them! If you want to add me at any of them there's links in the "Links" section to my profiles. Bye! bye

Blog Action Day 2008 - Poverty

, , , ...

Well, it’s now officially October 15th in my time zone, so now I write a blog post. What makes October 15th different from any other day you might ask? Well, on October 15th each year thousands of bloggers come together to discuss a pressing issue i the world. This year’s topic is poverty.

Now, to be honest, before I actually heard about this years topic for Blog Action Day, I really didn’t know that much about poverty. I mean, I knew what it was, and I knew it was bad, but other than that, I really didn’t realize how big of an issue it really was.

In the United States, just about 36 million people live below the poverty line. Plus, about 50% of the global population live on less than $2.50 a day. Unless I’m eating ramen noodles for every meal, that isn’t even close to enough to even feed yourself. Also, food isn’t the only expense people have, we also need clothes and shelter to protect us.

As you can see from the statistics above, this needs to stop, we need to do something to change. There are several people, just like us, who have to go without food each day, and wonder weather or not they’ll be able to survive through the next week.

So, you may say, “What can just one person do?” Actually, one person can do a lot, and if it weren’t for even just one person getting the ball rolling and starting things off, nothing would ever get done anyway. I think this video below shows very well how one person really can make a difference. It also shows several great ways we can help stop poverty.

So many of us are SO blessed for all that we have. We have so much and can take it all for granted. Think about what it would be like, even just for one day, to live only on $2.50 alone, nothing else, none of your possessions you currently own. Put yourself in others shoes, and realize how much you really do have.

I think a great way we can help poverty is to give up something we would normally spend money on during a certain day and take that money and donate towards supporting the fight against poverty. For example, give up two meals of the day, then take the money you would normally spend on those meals, and donate it.

Together, we all really can change things. It may not fix the entire problem, but we can make things just a little bit better. If everyone just did their part, we could solve this problem a lot faster than we might realize. So GO! Help change things!

Opera 9.6

, , , ...

Just upgraded to Opera 9.6 this morning, and I've gotta say, it's a lot bigger of an upgrade that I thought I'd be. smile

Opera 9.6 - Making you faster The first thing I noticed when I used it was how much faster it was! They weren't lying when they chose "Making You Faster" to go on the banner. I normally don't notice anything that different when they say something like that, but it seemed to load my pages almost twice as fast!yes The new feature that I think I like the most is the RSS preview, that was one of the main reasons I still used safari as much as I do, now, I will pretty much be using Opera for all of my web browsing. bigsmile

One new feature I would like to see in the next update though is the ability to sync wand preferences, that would pretty much eliminate every reason why I wouldn't use Opera. (although I already know I'm going to keep using it anyway, Opera Rocks! party)

I also decided to show Opera 9.6 and Opera Mini to one of my friends who had just got a new phone. He had never really used mobile web browsing before because well, let's face it, most phones' existing browsers just plain suck. p Anyways, I showed it to him, and he LOVED it! He loved the way his phone and computer browser stayed in sync using Opera Link, and right now, he's actually choosing to use his phone's browser instead of the computer! p cool

12 Seconds + Moutain Dew = Very Freaked Out Cat

, , ,

So, I just filmed a video on 12seconds and well, watch it first...

@GeoffGirardin re: Mountain Dew Code Red is probably the best there is. on 12seconds.tv

ANYWAYS, when I threw the can of Mountain Dew, I ended up hitting my cat, and now she's just sitting there and FREAKS OUT everytime I come near her.

Moral of the story, don't throw Mountain Dew cans across the room. p

Friendly Freddie

, , , ...

First of all, I know iI haven't posted anything on my blog lately, everytime I've sat down to write something, I've been very rudely interupted by this or that. Anyways, I should be posting more regularly now. smile

Now on to what I have to say. Here we go. So, one of the AWESOME things about my dad's job is all the AMAZING free advertising nic-nacs he gets and then gives to me. I have got some of THE COOLEST stuff I own just from the stuff he brings me. Last night, I got what may be the most awesomest pen EVER! yes (I think I get excited a little too easily... rolleyes) But if you look to your left you will see it there. It's name is "Friendly Freddie," and he is my new bosf (best office supply pen, I really do txt too much knockout) Now, whenever my Engilsh teacher assigns me a 30 page report on "When a Chair isn't really a Chair," this pen makes it all go away.
