Travels, concerts and other stuff

, , , ...

This spring has been quite hectic with Opera Mini 4.1. beta and then the final. I'm happy we had a good release, and the feedback has been very good!

I spent a long weekend in London during Pentecost, and it was very nice! I haven't been there since 2000 (this was my 4th time there). Things hadn't changed much, but this time I was actually staying very close to Trafalgar Square, and that was wonderful! So close to everything! Looking out of the hotel room, we saw directly at Big Ben. :D We did some sightseeing, and saw the musical Chicago. I'm a musical lover, and I've seen Phantom of the Opera twice, and also Mamma Mia. All in London. Chicago was nice, but nothing can compare to Phantom at Her Majesty's Theatre, in my opinion.

Next weekend I'm going to a Kiss concert here in Oslo. I'm really looking forward to that! I've been a Kiss fan since I was in elementary school. I had one of those denim jackets full of Kiss labels my mom had to sew on for me. :headbang:

Mid June Bon Jovi is visiting Oslo, and I can't miss that! I'm very pleased to say that I got a ticket, and it's going to be sooo much fun!!!

This summer, I'm traveling as well. I'm actually going on a sail trip in the Caribbean!!! Never done anything like that before, and I'm really looking forward to that trip! We are joining a boat with a Norwegian crew, and we don't have to help sailing if we don't want to. We can just stay on the deck and get a tan. We will start off in St. Martin/Sint Maarten and then cruise around the islands, stopping on several, and end up on Martinique. This is gonna be a blast!!!

California - The sunny (pot) state!

, ,

I just came back from a concert at Cox Arena at SDSU. The main attraction was Modest Mouse (never heard about them until this morning), and the music was really good! I enjoyed it a lot! But what was weird was that there was a constant smell of pot everywhere... I know I'm in California, but I didn't expect people to actually smoke pot inside a huge (indoor) sports arena. :eyes: I saw joints, bongs, you name it! It even looked like the band was enjoying some on stage! The security guards didn't seem to take any notice of anything. Another thing that got to me was the mosh pit. Never seen that before! It looked pretty violent!

One of the support bands was Man Man. We just arrived while they were playing, and what was really weird, is that the music was so similar to Kaizers Orchestra, a Norwegian band. I wasn't the only one noticing it. We were wondering if they were actually copying their style!

Well, it was a fun night, no doubt about it! :headbang:

Now all I have to do is wait for the next concert I'm going to: Tesla at House of Blues here in San Diego 11. June! Yeah!!! :spock:

Edit:
I forgot to mention one cool thing that happened at the concert. There's this nice restaurant at Pacific Beach here in San Diego, which have the best burritos I've ever had. It's called Chipotle, and you can find it in many states. Anyway, my colleagues and I eat lunch there from time to time, so I recognize some of the people working there. So, we were at the concert last night, waiting for Modest Mouse to start, when I suddenly noticed that one of the guys working at Chipotle was there, standing a couple of meters away. He eventualy came over, introduced himself, and said that he recognized us. It all ended up with me getting a coupon for a free burrito there! :D After he left, we were like "is it a good thing when people who work at fast food restaurants recognize you? or not?"... After all, this is America, the land of the fast food! On our way to the concert we were actually discussing what was American cuisine, and my guess was fast food and BBQ! p:
