In The Fall my thoughts move to the mountains

It is that time of year when the leaves change color and the temperature drops, it is the time to walk in the wilds and seek out the Animals that live there. It is the hunting season again. It is a joy just to be able to walk through the woods with all your senses alert to all that is around you.
The beauty of the trees, the smell of pine, and the rustling of the wind bring serenity to one's soul.
It is not necessary the thrill of the hunt, but thrill of seeing the deer, elk, wolves, rabbits, lions, mountain sheep moving in their habitat. Espcially during the bow season, I have spent more time observing the game up close and personal, than remembering to draw my bow.You try to capture that moment in time in your memory so you can relive time and time again. Some of my children rather hunt with the camera than a rifle. It shows their respect of the animals. I always carry a camera with me, but finding it and getting it ready helps to ruin the moment of observation.
This happens every year when you have thousands of acre's of land in National Forrest and other public land at your finger tips. This opportunities brings thousands of people here every year, looking to get there moment of thrill, when out in the woods. During the hunting season, I have run into people from all over the US coming to Montana, the big sky country, to have the opportunity to hunt, fish, camp, hike and explore this public land.
With the economy being in the state that it is in, more people are hunting to provide food for their families. I have eaten wild meat since I was a young boy. I enjoy eating it and have even had my wife who is from New York, enjoy the meal.
Soon this will pass with the build up of snow and the end of hunting. Now begins the time to prepare the meat for stowage. You see a wide range of different types of sausage, and dried meat, along with exotic receipes for cooking the game meat. When your done, you sit back and wait for the fall season to start all over again.
