ODE TO THE CRAFTER
I toil the memories to put on paper
all the emotions of the past
For I am the scrapbooker
that creates memories that last..
My cupboards and shelves
are stocked to the brim
with paper, embellishments
that will meet every whim...
pretty tools and measures
cutters and glues
chipboard & ribbons
of things I have yet to use
The latest of gadgets
like laminator & cuttlebug
THE latest craze & must have toy
my case is getting VERY heavy to lug
I quill and mosaic
and I paint and I sew
I make cards and glasspaint
I even tole, you know.
As the kids move out
I jump for joy
for now I've rooms
with which I can toy
I bead and dabble
with encaustic art
my friends think I'm quite clever
and even I think I'm smart
looking at my shelves
I can spend all day
thinking about with
what will I play
I'm addcited I know
to the glamour and glitz
thank heaven for Kindy
and cute little bitz
so now I pray me down to sleep
I pray my sanity my craft will keep
and should I die before I wake
I pray my craft to Heaven may take
but if it not be thy will
I pray the inks they will not spill
along with all my worldy craft go to charity
and that my addiction be known for posterity
and Lord if there be a prize
"she with the most craft wins"
let it be said loudly that I did not fail
and in this area did not sin
and when there were craft sales
I gathered as much as I could
at the front of the line
you can be sure there I stood
but in the meantime
please let me dream
of owning the next gadget and craze
and let me craft away and laze.

THE MEADOW OF HEAVEN
above the low lying area of grassland
adjacent to the heart of the river
sits the meadow of Heaven
sweet the saffron flourishes
and buttercups greet the day
sweet the saffron nourishes
where Gods creatures play
the green green carpet
the heath of beating heart
beckons me, come to the veldt
and lie beneath the cotton sheets
and yes the prairie whispers
to the long thig green stems
whose faces are atop

A NEW TOY
Morning brings the promise of joy
24 hours to play with
my moments, my toy
precious precious the minute hand
fortunate the beating of time
don't be afraid it will demand
for this is your time
to sieze the day
forget all reason and rhyme
you cant stop time moving forward
you cant hold time in your hand
so run with it keeping pace
as time, moves forward
there is no race
so your new toy arrives each day
this is your joy
enjoy it while you play

DEPRESSION
DEPRESSION....
hides the face
stricken still
need to find some space
mind is liquid as thoughts it fills
confusion
illusion
and more confusion still
kill the thoughts
chase them down
as in the mind they swirl
round and round
confusion
illusion
and more confusion still
I saw a light
I saw it flicker
and then it paled and dim
let me rest
let me lie
leave me
hold me
confusion
illusion and more collusion still
