SMILES AND WHISPERS
Monday, 16. June 2008, 06:27:48
the corners of the mouth turn up
and a smile forms
but this is not the smile of pure joy
their pleasure is not in the good of others
but in mocking amusement
their pleasure is in the whispers
and under their breath they utter
the sounds of destruction
that speak with suspicion
and timorous caution
secreting plotting insinuations
that delight their deceiv-ed heart
they are all smiles and whispers
they are all smoke and mirrors
they are but a shameless form
whispers of scandal like the
whispering of wind in the pines
that mimic the hush tones of lullaby
like the brush of silken cloth
or the rustling of velvet
sweet the gossip to the ear
so be careful of those who whisper and smile
and take delight in your demise
for they are a deceiv-ed heart
