Last Tree Standing
Friday, 27. June 2008, 04:10:26
there is a sound that falls on deaf ears
where winters past was once a dream
and falls the axe of sharpened steel
and life is taken but no one screams
cold so cold as snow as darkness falls
man's heart it feels no grief
and who will cry for the last tree standing
as man burns wood from winters relief
precious the forest from eons ago
we thought once eager to save
but amidst our ife of greed and aplenty
we forget to cry for the last tree standing
and now winters day as cold as snow
as cold as the steel on the lumbers axe
we cried not for the last tree standing.......

The day shall come that man regrets his relentless cutting of trees..
