Wishes Upon The Shore

WISHES UPON THE SHORE

Wishes wash upon the shore
in their thousands they surround my feet
and with every wave
I walk anew amidst the dreams
of all that one could wish for

sounds and scent that leave me breathless
as I take in all I survey
treasures amongst the seaweed jewels
glisten and catch the suns rays
so I gather the wishes to store

color and pearl, texture of tiny worlds
that have travelled so far
are slipped into my pocket
as I dance with the laps of the waves
and give gladly my gratitude

for the joy of all that is granted me
and then I sit upon the dunes
and pour out my pocket and finger
carefully each delicate wish
in a myriad of shapes and cones

and let them whisper to me
their secrets and wonders from
whence they came and tell me
stories of other lands and of
lives that have lived afar..

I just love this one* As I was reading it, it brought me back through time. The time of my youth growing up on the east coast; going to all the beaches from Maine, Cape Cod, ect. I loved to collect many little things and would see soo much even from the tiniest shell, driftwood, or rock ~rocks are incredible from delicate colors to shapes they take on from countless years traveling from who know's where~ I still have my collection to this day! Beautiful thought inspiring poem, it warmed my heart. Lyn

best days are after a storm...and drift wood if only I were the kind of artist who knew how to turn the driftwood into even more magnificent pieces of artwork like some are able to do...thank you Lyn for sharing that so nice to know that this piece was able to invoke a fond memory...

 Yes it sure did "invoke a fond memory", actually a flood* I know what you mean about "Storms" and yes people do amazing things with driftwood~Thank you again for sharing your poetry~You have a wonderful gift and it exudes how awesome this world is that was made for us; even though mostly destroyed, there is still much beauty to behold and be grateful for  Lyn
