I HELD ON...

I held on but you let me go
And now I must slip away
from the life we once knew

I held on but you let me go
and I fell heavily from
the heartache and pain

I held on but you let me go
in fact you never saw me
falling and missing you

I held on but you let me go
and you didnt realise that
you were falling too

Falling, falling heavily away
from loves protection and then
I realised that you were walking away

You gave up on love
you gave up on us
you gave up on the future
and let selfishness destroy us

So now when I reach out for
my hand to be held I dont see your
face but the face of God and friends.

When I look for comfort I don't
find your arms around me in loving embrace
I only feel the the love of Gods given grace...

I held on but you let me go
and when I fell to earth again
It was God who caught me and gave me a friend....
